My opinion is that it is unlikely Q5/10 will be updated to Android 5. Himedia have the Android 4.4 firmware working well.

Although, saying that, Himedia won't give us a definite yes/no to the question so it is possible.

I agree, I would continue to develop 4.4    5 and above are way to new to start from scratch for new firmware

Hope I'm not off-topic here but I noticed that my Q5 box was hot so I removed the top and it seems to run great now. Almost no drop-outs at all ever. If you can safely run it with the top off, I'd say go for it.

Futeko had mentioned Q5 was designed to withstand the heat, but it does get very hot after 2 hours of use. Can't say I've noticed performance issues, but I've been tempted to drill holes for ventilation, or possibly move to a Q10, which has a fan I think.

It is designed to get warm.

The main thing is ensure that it gets adequate ventilation. The air vents are on the base, so if you have good airflow underneath it will make a big difference. For this reason, I would not advise running it with the rubber legs removed or in any other way that blocks airflow underneath.
