HiMedia Player: Almost all of my mp4 files with AVC video and AAC 2 channel audio are completely not playing.

No. You have supplied ample information. ;)

I can replicate the problem where the files don't appear in Himediplayer.

A stop-gap solution is to use a different file browser. The Himediplayer file browser is not very good. If you install something like ES File Explorer you can use it's much superior file browser interface and still play files using the player part of Himediaplayer (ES gives you a choice of available internal players, of which Himediaplayer is one).
