Christmas is coming soon, so I would highlight these features on the wish list (for Western world models):

-change defaults storage location (2GB is not enough if you install several apps - unfortunately not everything can be moved to SD)
-support for USB audio devices such as microphones
-navigation bar (back, home, open tabs) and notification/status bar in standard Android launcher

Thanks for passing it on to Himedia!

Cheers,
Flo

First of all H8 is a Media-Player!
So I would prefer that all of the basic functions of a media player will be fixed and implemented
(AV synch, 23.976, external and internal subtitles support with at least UNICODE code-page support,
working fast forward/backward replay with moving video, working forward/backward jumps, etc.)
before such Smart-Phone things will get implemented.

@fload: The H8 has 16GB Flash-Memory. The 2GB that you mentioned is RAM!

@HDMediaplayer: Actually, I was not referring to RAM but to the internal storage reserved for the system & apps (the default location). Apparently this is limited to 2GB which is not a lot. If I install new applications I now regularly get the message not enough storage - although there would be enough on the general flash memory. So the "system partition" seems to be too small. And some apps (e.g. all system apps, Google drive...) cannot be moved to the SD (the "general flash memory").

I just got a response from Himedia about the topic: "Our later version has  been solved this issue. You could download our later version to take care of this. It will realese really soon."
Let's see what this means in specific.

it would be very important to have the passtruth also 2-channel stereo on hdmi,to use a high-quality external DAC,
and leave the original signal output.
then get to avr with signals 24-44,1 or 24-96 or also 24-192 which it depends on the track played.
sorry for my english, but I use a translator. thank you.

This is awesome news....I was going to return this media player because of the 2GB limit.

I will certainly pass on the request to Himedia. It would be good if they could implement this in all their products.

Unfortunately this has not been solved and apparently won't be. See also the thread http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=527.msg3662#msg3662

After some confusing emails from Himedia, I got the following answer:
"The design for the H8(allocating 2GB for system partrition)is already done and can not be changed. Let's say, this setting is like the DNA of H8. So we could make any more change. But for the later model(new model), we might consider allocating a bigger system partrition."

So it looks like we have to live with the small system partition. :(

How about if you root your H8, will not get more partition?

Hi,

I already wrote about this but this hasn`t changed in the new firmware so I am writing again.

Some letters will not be shown properly if they are not encoded in UTF-8 which is not convenient because majority of .srt subs are encoded in ANSI. When you play a movie which lasts 2 hours, it is annoying to see strange letters in almost every sentence. What is the use of an option to download external subtitle in KODI when this will not be shown properly and when all subs you have to change manually on a PC?
This is a media player so this should work like a charm and this is a big negligence.

Please report this to Himedia, they need to finally fix this (as well as 23.976 fps stutter problem which is still there).

There will be updated Kodi in next firmware.

Himedia (and the rest of China) are on holiday at the moment for their New Year. Back start next week so I'll ask them and post update here.

Feature request? How about a firmware with the latest 15.2 release? And please, no Jarvis...this will make Builds impossible to install.
With the last update the Box is not to use anymore cause of continous freezings...

A nice feature would be a "NATIVE" Resolution option. In other words: The box should give out any material with the original resolution and the original framerate of the source material. Without any upconversion, de-interlacing etc.

Kind Regards
