As I was unable to open the play store right the moment I first booted up the q10 pro I was not logged to the play store but only to the chrome and Gmail account. I saw a notice for an update of the Chrome but I can't update it also. I have checked the settings in update but it said I got the latest version but did not say what firmware version. One of my concern is the suggested forced update using a pinhole which is not that simple. Who knows I might "brick" my new q10 pro is I am not careful in my manipulation and timing. Is there an easier way to do such firmware update if required?Further once play store is running well is it mandatory to update firmware regularly. Because I adhere to the adage, "If ain't broken or defective then why fix it.."..?
Click on settings in UI, you see a row of boxes.
Box no. 5 displays the firmware no... HMDxxxx
Click on it, device info, you see all info.
I wont be surprised if it is 2.0.4 or 2.05.
New firmwares fix bugs as they are found and reported.
If you do not update, those bugs remain; certain features and capabilities will not work or work well.
You can try local update with USB which will keep existing apps in place but this may not work well as it is not a "clean" install.
Do not be afraid to use pin restore; i have done it a dozen times with my boxes!
