How to restore Playstore and Youtube Apps!
« on: April 24, 2018, 06:18:05 AM »
Hi

Hoping someone can help me out here before I dig myself further down a hole.

I recently changed my Google account password (via pc) and when I tried to logon to use any of my Google accounts on my Q10 Pro it did not seem to give me the option to change my password (just the message to Try Again with no way to change password). To get around this I decided to delete both apps and re-install from apk files, hoping that I would then be prompted to enter my passpowrd again after re-installing the apps.

I re-installed the apps from apk files found on another site, but when I click on the icons I get no response! Not sure what I'm doing wrong or if there is a better way to re-install the apps? If I update to the latest firmware (I'm using the custom firmware) will this re-install the apps?

Thanks for your help  :)

I'm still trying to fix this! Does anyone have any ideas? I tried to disable, then uninstall Playstore in the hope that it would re-install itself correctly, but when I click on the Playstore icon,  I still have no joy.

If I were to perform a factory reset would this restore the Playstore App? (I'm running Android 7.0, build no. HMD-2.0.4 2017-07-05.174159 using the custom firmware for the Q10 Pro). Or if I install the latest custom firmware, would this re-install Playstore?

Thanks again  :)

I advise re-installing firmware. It will reinstate all apps.

It should have been possible to change account details in Play Store using one of these methods

From FAQ:

* Add a Google account after first account deleted? If you delete your Google account then attempt to reinstall it you will find it impossible to add another account. This can be fixed by going: Settings - More - Apps - Google Play services - Storage - CLEAR CACHE. Now run Play Store and you can add a new Google account.

But, because you've tried to fix it in various ways which might have introduced their own problems I strongly recommend a full firmware reinstall.

Just uninstall the google play services update in the settings - apps - google play services app (top right hand corner)

Google Play store will then work to open and enter login details.

Thanks for the reply rollingrock, but I think I will go for the full firmware reinstall, as I think I may have also messed up some of my settings in Kodi, as well as Google Play!

Thank you for the reply futeko.

Do I need to re-install the firmware I currently have installed (HMD-2.0.4 2017-07-05) or can I go straight to the latest firmware 2.0.8 ?

Thanks again.

You can install 2.0.8 direct from 2.0.4.
