Is HiMedia working for Oreo?
Oreo version of Andoid TV should be more mature than Nougat.

What could Oreo bring to a TV box? TV boxes running Android are not pure Androids. A newer Android version will not automatically bring new features. There is this little issue about SDK that I am not sure even exists for Nougat. I would settle for a very good firmware based on Nougat.

Perhaps because Google will produce an Android TV dongle with Oreo?

I am talking about hardware based SDK. This means HiSilicon must have an Oreo SDK for its chipset. Google can do whatever they want, the direction they are going is not towards TVs. They even dropped their media players (there were a few over the years).
