Operational questions on the Q10

Below are a few operational questions with the Q10 that i couldn't figure out;

1. Wallposterimg; How can I stop what appears to be a 'auto' process of retrieving these movie posters for every video I have in the internal HDD? What is happening is random jpg's are being assigned to the wrong files. I would say 95% of the files have a completely different poster. Reason being is these are NOT movies, but various 'videos' from numerous sources (U-Tube, myself & elsewhere). Whomever wrote the program needs a different job as it is majorly flawed!

2. Default folder categories in the F/W; Video, Music, Photos etc, those are not created in the HDD. When I open any of those folders, all of what I have in the HDD show no matter what type they are.
Should I create these default folders and place the associated files in each one?

3. "Close & HBR" What is the meaning of "close" in some of the settings menus? Is it suppose to mean disabled?? Also what does "HBR" stand for other than the 'Harvard Business Review' which shows on the 1st few pages of Google?

4. Text Icons (which could be useful) around the perimeter of that mostly useless 'clock' display, are those suppose to be working functions? I have never seen any light up (when the display is 'on').

1. Do you mean the 'MovieBar' app? I would not recommend using it. Use Kodi instead. We have never promoted moviebar because it is ill conceived (why reinvent the wheel, particularly if the wheel has evolved into a highly complex and efficient wheel?) and it is not very good.

2. See #1. HiMedia started including moviebar about a year ago to compete with other brands which include their own posterwall media browser. The Himedia version is very poor and other brand's attempts are not good either. The best solution is Kodi + wrapper. No manufacturer is going to be able to beat Kodi for media management and info scraping.

3. I presume HBR means high bit rate. In HiMedia settings it defines the number of channels for RAW audio output.

4. There are some icons on the LCD panel which are not used by Q10 Pro. The same LCD panel is shared by some other HiMedia products.

No, I mean when I open a folder with video files.

Nothing to do with MovieBar. When I open a file explorer program.

For the first question I have no idea what you are talking about.

The only pre-installed app that downloads poster info is the MovieBar app (My Apps - MovieBar).

The pre-installed 'MediaCenter' app (located on home screen) does not download any posters. The pre-installed FileManager app (My Apps - FileManager) does not download any posters.

Please explain exactly what app you are running that  is causing you this problem?

By what you are calling 'Default Folder categories', do you mean the folders in the root of the device filesystem? These have no real operational use and are a feature of every Android OS installation. Every phone/tablet/media box running Android has them. You can put your media anywhere you like. In fact, and rather obviously since the Q10 Pro has only 16GB storage, media should be located either on internal/external HDD or the network.

Close means close. i.e. close the door. In the case of Settings - PlayBack - HDMI Output / SPDIF Output it means close the output.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
The HDD has a number of folders that I took off my PC including music, photos, video, ripped DVD's. Any of those built in Q10 media folder category's I click on to view my folders I can see all of these files as I can using the "All" choice. IOW's it doesn't 'filter' any out.
When I opened up one with videos, no matter what folder they are in, the screen becomes populated with movie posters, almost all of course weren't even close. So, was that this "MovieBar" doing this? I did not run MovieBar, just opened them up (I believe) using FileExplorer.

I now have disabled MovieBar, I will open those folders again and see if the behavior stopped.


The default device folders in the Q10. Then what is the purpose of these separate (by type) folders if they ignore the type of file. Open "Photo" and mp'3  (and everything else) shows. 

Ok, they call "disable" close. Probably 50 years in electronics in one way or the other and I have NEVER heard that term meaning disable. The closest was using the very old school term "valve" referring to a transistor.

The description you are giving doesn't correspond with how Q10 Pro works with default official firmware.

Where did you get the Q10 Pro from and what firmware is it running?

The MediaCenter and FileManager apps do not support posters or categories.

The MovieBar app, however, does. But, as I said in my initial reply I advise not using it because it's not very good. Use Kodi + wrapper instead.

I never 'ran' it by itself. The original F/W was 2.0.6. I upgraded it to CFW 2.0.7, but I saw things that I didn't like, so I did another upgrade to SW 2.0.8 that just came out. Both by each specific, different instructions.

The opening was outside of Kodi. I will go thru the process again taking note of exactly what happens or doesn't hopefully and post back.
