Are you using Kodi internal player or the wrapper? If you are using the wrapper (Himedia player) there's no solution... Send an email to Himedia.

I have used the "wrapper" from Kodi consistently with each firmware upgrade and not had any issues with video resume from last position watched.  Your issue may depend on where the video is being stored and if the HiMedia has write permissions?  It needs to save the resume position somewhere in the system.

Both HiPalyer and KODI saves all data to the internal storage, so no need for special write permissions to the video shares. But if it happens with KODI player , than it might be worth to check out if it has the right permissions allowed to the internal storage/system: in the Android Settings->App permissions menu.

Other than that, sometimes different skins could cause anomalies like this in KODI. Worth to check out also with the default Estuary skin.

When playing a file using the wrapper: Menu - Play Settings - Play Record.

If set to Close, wrapper will not store exit point and always start from beginning of file.

If set to Open, resume point is saved.
