Google account password, himedia strikes back..
« on: March 08, 2018, 05:14:52 AM »
I had to change my google password. No way to update it, so I deleted and now I can't create a new google account.
Of course the "google services and play" solution in the faq doesn't work. I can accept that chrome crashes 2 or 3 times any single day but this is another story:
I NEED TO ACCESS MY GOOGLE ACCOUNT!

Please administrators, do not reply before reading my post: the solution written in the faq

DOES NOT WORK.

Can you open Play Store? You should try to delete all its data and try to launch it. I know that once I logged in with Play Store, all other Google apps (Youtube, Chrome and so on) were using my account too.

Settings - More - Accounts - Find Google Account - Delete account.

Settings - More - Apps - Google Play services - Storage - MANAGE SPACE - CLEAR ALL DATA

Reboot.

Run Play Store app.

You should now be asked to add a new (or password changed) Google account.

If that doesn't work (it works here for me) then please explain more at what stage it doesn't work.

Thanks for replying, but this is the exact solution in the Faq that I wrote doesn't work.

I did it again (cleared ALL DATA), I rebooted and when I try to open play store the screen becomes all white and then i'm forced back to the home page. I can't enter my google password in any google app/service

I swear that if another himedia rep posts here to tell me to do the same thing or to make a factory reset...  I'm asking Amazon a complete refund :)

Strange because the above definitely does work for me, I tried it whilst writing the post.

A catch-all solution is to reinstall firmware.

Every time I write here to solve a problem your company doesn't solve anything and it all ends with somebody like you saying  "strange it works for me".

A-N-Y   G-I-V-E-N   T-I-M-E.

Next step will be you or another Futeko rep saying: "Well it must me your fault, did you install any app?"
and I will reply: "I did not install a single app except Gmail"
and you'll say: "Strange it must be your fault. Did you follow  the above solution?".

Imagine a car dealer doing the same when you ask for assistance.  Being polite isn't enough in CRM, sorry, you must solve problems exactly when they are "strange".

Listen dude I had a similar problem and eventually I had to bite the bullet and reinstall the factory firmware using the reset button in the back. Guess what it worked ;) No different than a PC that goes berserk! It's a 5 minute job on an android box so try it and you might be amazed...FYI Futeko doesn't work for Hi-Media...he's a reseller so he's just trying to help.

I am expierencing all kind of weird issues lately and this problem can be added to the list.

Just this afternoon I reinstalled (reset method etc.) the 2.0.6

It seems that I can access the PC again through the LAN button, however, now Youtube doesnt work anymore. It hangs as soon as I press play on an video and closses the app.
Plus, it is impossible to add my Google account. In account settings I can click Google add account and then the page stays all blank.

So, now I need to reinstall the firmware again, hoping this will also fix these issues?

I came from a XTreamer Prodigy box which was known for crappy firmware.
By now the Prodigy has fierce competition in this department.

Really don;t know what to do with this box anymore.

If you are unable to create the account after removing it, my suggestion is to do a factory data reset.

You will lose everything (settings, data, apps)

Go into Settings/Backup & Reset
Select factory data reset

After it restarts you should be able to create your google account

Topdude - I am guessing you may need to update the Youtube app in Playstore, given you do not have a google account, you will not be able to this (unless you side load it). First priority would be to fix the account issue then update YouTube.

I did the factory reset. I did the full reinstall of the firmware.
No luck in either case.

You are right about the youtube update. However, the latest version doesnt work. I use an older version which seems to work.
It remains impossible to create a google account.

What firmware version are you using?

For google account, try uninstalling the updates of the google play services in the settings/apk, this will allow you to open the google account page to insert account info. This bug was fixed in the latest firmware 2.08.

I'm on 2.0.6

2.0.8 is not an option for me, since the problems with subtitles seem to be persistent inn this version.

if you are on OFW v2.0.6 try this maybe helps

1 Backup, backup, backup all your sensitive data
2 Download 3798CV200_update7.0_googleplay(HiMedia_OFW_only).zip
3 Rename 3798CV200_update7.0_googleplay(HiMedia_OFW_only).zip to update.zip
4 Apply update from settings/upgrade/local upgrade/...

If Google Play services popup error do clear data.

Ok, this has helped.  :)

First I did the update, then checked if the google play would work.
It didn't.

Then I did another return to factory settings and yes, finally, I was able to create the google account in settings/apps/account

Thanks for your help.
Hopefully, the Q10 will stay this way and I'm praying for a firmware update that fixes all issues without introducing new ones.

Cheers!
