Does anyone know how to convert the update.zip file to an update.img or separate images file to flash through a PC with RK AndroidTools v2.35?

Seems it only works on the Chinese H7 and not the international H8 named device.

Go to Advanced function
In Start / count type the addresses below eg.
misc - start = 0x00006000 count = 0x00002000
then click Export Image button.
The image will be saved in a folder in the flash tool, called output or export
rename the image to it's correct name as below eg. misc.img then do the others also and upload somewhere.

Trying to see if I can make a complete firmware that can be flashed from a PC with AndroidTool.
If it works I can make a custom ROM and it will be easier to port other RK3368 device ROM's to this one.
These images aren't in the update.zip file and are needed to flash from a PC.

Run AndroidTool.
Put TV Box in flashmode by holding the restore button with a paperclip while connecting power and connecting to a pc..
AndroidTool will show, found loader device.
Will also need a USB to USB cable to connect one of the USB ports to a PC, but not sure which one.

It looks like the Chinese H7 firmware can't install on the international H8 devices.
There must be a signature checking somewhere in the zip file.
I compared the beta 1.0.6 international firmware to the 1.0.6 final Chinese firmware and couldn't find anything except that the international version has Google apps and the Chinese version not.
It must be the way they package the different update zip files to maybe check for previous versions of files that won't be the same on both devices.

Other RK3368 manufacturers let's you flash complete firmware from your PC, so you can try eg. 5 different firmware's from other manufacturers or custom ROM's which I don't think is possible on Himedia H7/H8 devices at the moment.

Will probably have to wait for the final 1.0.6 international version to be released.

Maybe someone should ask Himedia to release PC AndroidTool flashable firmware also instead of update.zip's through the device itself.
It would open the Himedia H8 to custom ROM's and tweaks and you will be able to use the Chinese firmware which is released before the international one.

JDownloader renames the file (when finished) back to "update_H8_G3.zip" but is downloading as "update_H7_G3.zip" EVEN when you select A8.
I think (because of the same file size) it's one firmware for all three machines, but "update_H8_G3.zip" is not working with my H8 either.
When I rename it to "update.zip" I get an error message and if I leave the name to "update_H8_G3.zip" it doesn't work neither (like written in the Chinese forum).
BTW - as no1 answered to my post in Q10 Support I sent both machines back to seller. I will just keep the H8, hoping it will work in a few years or so
