Can't listen to music with TV OFF?
« on: February 17, 2018, 09:57:10 AM »
Hi,

Is there any feature that is blocking this?

I've just upgraded from 1.09 to 2.0.7 and can't listen to music anymore when setting up and play, then as soon as I swtich off TV, the music goes into pause and cannot even press play on remote - does not work anymore...  with old soft it was working fine.

Any ideas?

Does it turn itself off?

Nope, it goes to pause. When I turn tv on again, it is in pause mode. So I can only play music with tv on, which is useless

Hi,
Press the pause/play button again on the remote & the music will continue.

Maybe it's also related to the CEC problem. See the FAQ for the suggestion of a CEC-less adapter.

As long as the TV is the receiver, you will never be able to listen to music with the TV off. It is like you're not powering the speakers and you want to still hear music. Look for an option to just turn off the display, I have such a thing on my old LG smartTV, my TV still stays on. If you do not, then there is no solution to your problem.

Guys, I told you - it was working fine with old firmware 1.09 and Android 5!!!

So do not tell me that it will not work... The same for pressing pause again when TV is off  - it does not work anymore! I need to literally turn tv ON and then play pause again to continue playing music and as soon as I turn TV Off, the music goes again into pause mode...

Very annoying...

And I think it is not CEC related as I had the very same setup and working fine on old firmware... Bug?

Does your HDMI cable from the HiMedia go into an AVR for audio and video and from there, another HDMI cable to your TV?
If not, how are your devices connected?
Do you use Media Center, Kodi or some other player for music?

I was never able to listen to anything on my TV once the TV was turned off. My Q10 Pro is connected directly with the TV, but I have been using it with Android 7 based firmware mostly.

Using Media Center.

HDMI connected to TV.

AND optical cable connected to AVR. TV is only needed to choose a song.

WAS WORKING FINE on old firmware, so it is doable.

There's an option in settings to turn off the device if it doesn't detect a HDMI connection, try to turn that option off.

Well, I can't find this, are you sure it is present in 2.0.7 firmware?

The only thing that could have influence back from TV to Q10Pro is CEC over HDMI. That is I we disregard very small chance of collision/confusion between IR commands - power for TV somehow has same effect as pause on Q10. But this can be easily tested by covering reception on Q10 while turning TV off.

By best guess is that CEC is causing problems - why it didn't with older firmware? Maybe because it wasn't even implemented in Q10? Or it had bug that caused it not to work properly but does now in latest version?

Anyway, try disabling HDMI CEC/Control, preferably in both, TV in Q10 Pro.

I'm still on 2.0.6 but probably yes.
Settings - more - standby - hdmi suspend
