DTS-HD HR Broken 2.0.6
« on: December 29, 2017, 02:02:25 PM »
Hi,

using "Auto" in Sound Settings gives only DTS, instead of DTS HD-HR.
Using RAW 5.1, DTS HD-HR works, but then there is no Atmos possible
Pls fix

For me, it's broken in the opposite way.
My receiver (Denon) shows 7.1 even if the DTS stream is 5.1

Hi,

I also have 2.0.6 and sound works perfectly as it should. Of course that is true only for integrated Himedia Player. Sound settings should all be set to RAW for HDMI and I got working AC3, TrueHD, Atmos, DTS, DTS-HD and DTS-X.

What player are you using? Also sometimes it happens, at least on my Denon, that you should press Auto audio mode on AVR's remote to detect correct sound.

BTW, you're saying DTS-HD-HR. What is HR?

Oh, I didn't know that - but it's quite rarely used as I've read so far.

Anyway, I got some DTS HD-HR 7.1 content and plays just fine on my Denon as full DTS HD-HR, not just base DTS. I'm using HDMI audio as RAW and HBR as Auto.

@netguru. Can you give us some more data about other settings like HDMI audio, used player, AVR,...

Audio settings for passthrough (including Master Audio, High Resolution, 24/96, DTS-X, TrueHD, Atmos 7.1 etc.  should be:  RAW, RAW & RAW 7.1
My Q10Pro has been on these audio settings since first set up.

Surely to get original content to AVR you need to set settings to RAW. Anyway, I'm a little bit confused what exactly "HBR degrade output" is? I couldn't find detailed descriptions of it anywhere. Could someone explain it please?

Same here , on Q10Pro with Pioneer VSX1113

DTS-HD HRA only Outputs DTS Core with Audio Setting  RAW 5.1.
On Auto or 7.1 i get no Sound/Silent Noise

-Any other Format works perfect with HDMI Passthrough

- Other Devices like PS4/Pana BR Player etc can passthrough DTS HRA without any Problem in my Setup

it works fine for me. To be at the same "wavelength" please try this two DTS-HD HRA samples, 5.1 and 7.1 respectively:
http://s1.demo-world.eu/hd_trailers.php?file=dts_orchestra_short_lossless-DWEU.mkv
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwxFVkl63-lEcU1ScWZuMjhpOXM/view

In the attachments are the screenshots of what gets to Denon AVR and you can see it work just fine. Settings were HDMI Audio to RAW and HBR degrade output to Auto.

Maybe the problem is in yours HDMI cable? As I posted I do not know what exactly HBR downgrade is and how it works - explanation would be very welcome  :)

A very similar recent problem with Egreat products turned out to be caused by the AVR. For those experiencing this problem, do you have Onkyo AVRs?

The Egreat problem may have been caused by the most recent Onkyo firmware update.

Try a hard reset of the AVR.

As i said i have this Problem ONLY in Combination with Q10Pro and my ARV Pioneer VSX1131

And yes, through different Pio AVR FW Versions  the Behaviour changed, very strange but  Fact.
Different Q10 Pro FW doesnt change anything!

With older Pio FW  DTS HRA was detected as DTS 5.1 but and was playing clean, with later FW always as DTS HD MA 5.1...but since newer FW i get only a Noise from DTS HRA (at Q10 Pro Setting Auto or RAW 7.1)

DTS HRA plays fine with any other Device like PS4 etc on my Pio AVR.
And i have tested my old Sony AVR with Q10 Pro and DTS HRA Output is fine.
So it must be the Combination of Q10 Pro and some AVR FW what can cause this DTS HRA Problem

Hard Reset etc doesnt help

Considering these facts looks like a hard-to-identify-and-fix compatibility issue.
It reminds me of my issue where HDMI ARC from Samsung TV to Denon AVR was dropping sound after maybe 20 seconds of playing and pause-resume brought the sound back - it looked like Denon somehow lost sync on DTS stream (AC3 was working fine).  Of course there was no hero, or even god to speak  ::), to even identify if Samsung or Denon is to blame, let alone to fix the issue.

I really do not know how to fix this, as at least me and probably also others have no problems. When rational things don't work anymore, try some other - have you tried different/better/shorter HDMI cable? Try to use different HDMI input on your receiver?

But again, I would maybe know to advise better if I would know what HBR output actually is and what it does. Could someone put extensive explanation, Futeko?
