New HDD

The HDD in my Q10 is getting full and needs to be replaced. Would you recommend a WD Black, Blue or Red???

Because of higher reliability on longer terms, I would (and will myself) go for the RED.

The Black would be an overkill, and the RED is more widely current and fair enough for casual NAS/streaming usage.

You don't really need a high performance hard drive for an android box, noise and power consumption are probably more important.

WD Red is good but if you can get an HGST Deskstar drive for a similar price, they have long term reliability on their side.

Got an 8Tb Red for more than a year already. And no hiccups.

My reasons: reliability, and lower power requirements w/ regards to others.

Yes, I agree that the HGST drive are far more reliable than those of Western Digital but, running at 7200 rpm, the HGST also run noisy and hot (when both idle and active)! HGST (formerly Hitachi) are now owned by Western Digital!!!

Ah, and i forgot. If you look closely, WD Red 8TB is very closely similar (looks and specs) or not the same as of HGST 8TB.
