strange problem

hi, i setup my q5pro (2.0.4) for 2160p/60 and ycbcr4:2:0 10bit (ideal for 4K HDR movies) but when i start any type of movies with the himedia player (but MX too!) 4:2:0 10bit always auto-switch to 4:2:2 (12bit i think...) until the next restart of the q5 then back to 4:2:0.....why??
if i keep that 4:2:2 i'll get some image degradation when watching 4K HDR movies (that are 4:2:0 native)?? thanks

That's not a bug, that's HDMI 2.0 limitation: 4:2:0 only supported on 4K 50/60Hz. And the majority of videos you will play will be 23.967 Hz (24p). See here: http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_2_0/hdmi_2_0_faq.aspx, but according these "official" specifications you couldn't even get 4:2:2, but by some other sources, you can:  http://www.extron.com/company/article.aspx?id=hdmi2faq

So 4:2:2 is the closest you will get to 4:2:0.

The benefit of 4:4:4 would come only in the case of 4:4:4 source videos, and the same with 10 bit sources and setting . Everything else is upscalling, and the best is to stay as close to the native as you can. I couldn't test by myself, cause I don't own a 4K TV, but according to the second linked chart, the 4:2:2 setting should wok also with 4:2:2 10 bit not just 8 bit. The best is to test it yourself both on 4:4:4 10bit and 4:2:2 and see with your own eyes if witch one seams to you better.  You can also see on your TV (or AVR) info, if the input its 4:2:2 10 bit or just 8 bit in the case of 4:2:2 setting.

Since I don't have a 4K  (nor 10bit) TV, I would say, that -probably- for 4:2:0/24p/10bit material the best would be the 4:2:2/10bit input in this case. See If it switches automatic to 4:2:2 10 bit or just 8 bit (but I almost sure it will). And if not, maybe 4:4:4 10bit is a better choice after all.

Can it output on 4K?! I have wrote: Test it. See the input info on your TV's  or AVR's while playing a 4:2:2 4:2:0 10bit video. Oh: Maybe you confuse HDR with "10bit colour depth" they're not the same. I'm not an expert with this, but there are maybe also 4K/4:2:0/8bit/HDR sources as well, so I would check the videos first. Edit:  Sorry, I'm maybe wrong on that last one ,cause the HDR is dependent on the 10bit color depth, so the HDR videos will be all 10 bit as well. (But still, not meaning the same technically.)

If in the case of 4K/420/24p/10bit videos and 422 setting, if the TV/AVR displays 422/12bit that it may be true that it will only capable to this and no 10 bit. But strange as it can adapt natively  to any 4K/420/24p/8bit material with 422/8bit. So, wheres the missing 10 bit?! Good question...

Edit: I have received the information, that these Himedia Boxes can't decode neither any 4:2:2 nor any 4:4:4 sources. So I guess the 4:4:4 setting is totally useless and 4:2:2 is to go as output (not the same as the decoding capability!) hence that's the closest to 4:2:0 in the case of both 10bit HEVC/HDR/24p and FHD/24p/8bit videos. If the 4:2:2 also will output at 10bit.
