May be that some people will say that this review is not necessary,  i do not have the same opinion.

Each type of device corresponds to a user profile, those who do not have Wired Gigabit Ethernet and who do not want to have external hdd on their audio-video bench/furniture could be interrested by the X10 which allows to have a storage up to 10 To in a small cube of 20cm by 20cm.

As far I know, the X9S and X10 have the same wi-fi antennae. Only the new X20 will have improved MIMO wi-fi antennae. Both, X9S and X10 have the same wired Gigabit connection and same performance, because hardware is the same (there are reviews claiming that the motherboard of the X10 is the same as the used in X9S).

On the other hand, initially Zidoo promised us that X10 would have a 'more professional software' than its siblings, do you remember? Currently the X10 has a firmware near identical to firmwares for X9S and X8, so besides of a revamped display, an internal HDD bay and a new fan for that bay, no other difference exists.
I asked this question to 'mirror' some weeks ago and I've received no reply yet. I think Zidoo have left their plans to add exclusive features to the X10.

That being said, it would be nice to have a review of this device here, so come on

You are right there are some differences, Differences that will interest a customer who does not necessarily have the same need or equipment as the person who will buy an X9S for example.

I watched a movie UHD HDR remux last night, and everything worked except the subtitles always the same problem, this happens less often than before but still present.

When I download/select another subtitle I no longer have the problem.

Having tried both the Egreat A10 and the zidoo X10, if you had to buy and keep only one, which one would it be and  why?

Also, do you stream the the 400mbps jellyfish clip or play it through the HDD?

The two brands offer excellent performance, honestly difficult to choose for me.


The 2 machines still have little bugs/bugs

The Egreat is compatible with the blu ray menu uhd, not the Zidoo.

the Zidoo ( it is my opinion) has a better PQ out of the box, It is necessary to make adjustments with the egreat before having an image equivalent to the Zidoo

The zidoo switch has the right frequency, not the Egreat

The Egreat has Vidon, it supports BR menu... not ZDMC.

The zidoo has a price more interesting than the egreat

Both machines have advantages and disadvantages, i do not know which one to choose.

There is the price that can help you, according to your budget

If the UHD BR menu does not interest you, chose the zidoo and in addition it is cheaper.

If you want to have the UHD / BR menu with Vidon selected the Egreat

the PQ is equivalent.

The 2 machines are stable

Do you want a box that looks like a blu ray player or a small square box like the zidoo x10

Personally I keep both machines

I  read your review about the Zidoo X10 and it is very informative. I had an Egreat A5 but sold it again as , even after their latest firmware-update is still has too many buggs. Kodi on the A5 is no found(disturbing sound when playing movies as well as flac music files). I replaced the A5 by a Nvidia Shield and that works much better only....no 3d and no menu. So I am considering the X10 .  because I see you have both Egreat and Zidoo could you give me your opinion ....which of these two do you prefer.

I know  THE PLAYER does not excist but I  would appreciate your opinion. Especially important is: does the Zidoo play the menus the same way the Egreat does ?  that was one thing I did like about the Egreat but especially the soundproblems ( continuing disturbances when using the Egreat player, the Vidon or Kodi 17) made me decide to replace it.

it is weird, because i do not have any problem with the Egreat when i use POSTER v2.0 or vidon.

The 2 devices support 2D/3D ISO (vidon/poster v2.0/zdmc/hometheater )

About BD menu :

Zidoo X10
Home theater app supports HD BD menu
Home theater app does not support UHD BD menu
ZDMC does not support HD BD menu
ZDMC does not support UHD BD menu

egreat A5/10
POSTER V2.0 app supports HD BD menu
POSTER V2.0 app supports UHD BD menu
Vidon supports HD BD menu
Vidon does not support UHD BD menu

I do not know if ZDMC will support BR menu in the future

Wow....thank you Olivier for your quick and informative reply.

I will try to explain a bit better why I sold my Egreat A5. The idea Egreat has with this machine is great but they forgot one main thing :  a media-player mainly  should give its user a day to day easy to use experience and that Egreat does not. All the time (I had it for 3 months) it surprised me with things that just not worked or even worse stopped working after a new update became available. For instance when I bought the thing the changing of the Region-code worked now it  does not.  I know there is a work-around for this but it worked when I bought it. Also it did not find any of my external hard-discs  if they not have  an external power supply.  I know this can also be solved but with my present Nvidia Shield I do not have any "surprises". Just plug and play and it is ready to go . That is how a media-player should work. 

Also from day one the Egreat "surprised" me randomly with continuing disturbing hisses in the sound. This happened in the Egreat-player as well as in Vidon and in Kodi 17.3. Only when I put it on analog the hisses stopped.  My Nvidia as well as my old Minix 8Hplus did /do not have these problems.


I know and accept all player sometimes give problems but this Egreat just kept "surprising"me so I am glad it is gone. The only thing I miss  are Bluray menu and 3d ISO so if the Zidoo supports that I will give it a try. I liked the picture the Egreat gave but if I read your eview of the Zidoo correctly the Zidoo's picture  is even better. ZDMC I will not use.

For Kodi etc I will remain using Nvidia  so if the Zidoo just gives me menu in its own player; 3D ISO and that with no disturbing hisses in digital-mode I will be very very happy.

If I understand you correctly Zidoo gives me 3d ISO WITH Menu in its own player yes ?......

Hello,

Here is the HDD temperature before and after a movie with and without FAN.

I have a WD Red 3To ( we know that the wd red 3To does not heat and a low speed of 5400 rpm)

The running time of the film is two hour and it is on the internal hard drive

It is just for information.
