Embedded DVD subtitles
« on: July 10, 2017, 09:14:55 PM »
My Q10 pro has firmware 2.0.4, navigation/sound control bar removed. Kodi upgraded to version 17.3.

I notice  an abnormal behaviour when I play mkv files that contain embedded DVD subtitles.
The subtitle does not dissapear. It is only replaced by the next one. So, aslong as there is no new text, the line stays on the screen, where it would normally dissapear after some time.

This is not the case with blu-ray embedded subtitles or embedded srt subtitles.  Both function normal as far as the time a line is displayed.

also happens with pccristi's cfw 2.0.4
is there a different version of himedia's internal player available for download without this bug?

This was happening in older fw versions as well, at least I saw it a few times on 2.0.0 and was reported by others as well from different fw versions in the past.
I don't know if there is a specific HiMedia Player version which does not have this bug, since I use MX Player almost exclusively since a long time.

I have tested it with embedded PGS subtitles, and there was no problem on the 1.0.9 fw.

First quick impression was that it was solved, but with original DVD subtitles the timing is off a lot.  Subtitles appear approx. 10 seconds before the audio.
Embedded SRT seems to works fine.

Still work to be done.

It's just the case with DVD subtitles? What's the exact format of the videos and the subtitles?

I always watch my .mkv videos with Blu-ray .sup PNG embedded subtitles and they always play timed correctly, tested on fw 1.0.9 and on 2.0.6.

It seems subtitles in ass and png format working correctly.

I see the timing error with mkv's with embedded VOBSUB subtitles (IDX/SUB) like the ones used with DVD's.
Also I notice that the possitioning is not correct. The subtitles are at the bodem of the screen now.

Kodi does it right.
Using the Kodi 17.6 VideoPlayer instead of the Wrapper is a temporary solution.

I have not noticed a problem with mkv's that have embedded .srt as subtitles.
