1 Android size UI and Video output are two different setting, switching Android UI from 1080p to 720p will not change video output from 1080p60Hz to 720pHz this have to be done separately start with f/w 1.0.5.

3 Almost all AVR/protector have this functionality, not common on TV, so use Himedia Debug/Info system develop by looun. I'm not sure if him update for last Android 7 v2.0.3 FW, but working nice for all other older version.

So I can't even force the Q10 Pro to 720p playback output with any kind of setting? (OK, I have figured it out jet, that no, I can't...) And my output will be always fix 1080p (if I have an 1080p max TV)?! I tried to play some SD resolution videos as well, but regardless of my 720p setting in the menu I have always ended up my TV's info displaying 1080p. So my TV isn't doing any upscaling and 1080p is what it gets from the Q10 Pro, right?!

And what about the 4K question? How can be one sure if it's real 4K output or upscaled by the TV?! That forum member complained about this: he presumes, that -maybe- the KODI (or even the HiPlayer) downscales the 4K resolution videos to 1080p and than his TV upscales it to 4K. And -maybe- that's why he gets 4K showed in the TV's info and not because it is the native input from the Q10 Pro.

Hope I explained it a bit more clearly this time...

But OK, I will do my studies with the KODI link also, and thanks!

pcristi (and for all how's competent): All I could figure out from that linked KODI thread jet (tho'  didn't have done reading), that in 16.1 KODI it has an auto resolution switch implemented, which can be activated in the Video Settings menu called Adjust Refreshrate to match video (according to the developers comments it's also refers for resolution, not just fps). So, if I thick this, the resolution will be set automatic to the source (4K for 4K videos and 1080p for 1080p videos) after I start a playback with KODI's own player, right?!

But is this really working at all with this Android version of KODI? I mean even for correct refresh rate switching we had to install your patch under KODI... : So it's still a big confusion for me.

And is there a way to set the KODI's GUI to 4K res as well?! All he gets (he has a 4K TV by the way) in the setting menu in KODI is 1080p, and it's even greyed out, so he cannot change it to anything else.

I have asked for a similar explanation regarding the limited output resolution of Kodi (1080p) and why is it greyed out when playing into my Samsung 4K tv on two occasions over the last 2-3 months and had no replies even from Futeko, not very good support when you buy a box that is supposed to this, if it is not possible why don't they point this out in the first place as its selling things under false pretences. I have installed Librelec (based on Kodi) on several computers including a small Tronsmart TV box  similar in concept to the Q10 and don't have  any of the limitations apart from playing HDR.

Here: Ok, so I have done an intense 1 hour googling  and read through like 10 different forums relevant threads, and finally have found a -partial- answer to my question:  https://kodi.tv/article/kodi-160-alpha-4-jarvis-nearing-completion-> In Brief: The Android KODI has it's GUI limited to max 1080p, because rendering the interface in 4K would cost much more CPU power and not all Android Boxes would be capable to do so. So it's rather a compatibility regulation.  Nevertheless the playback resolution works completely separated from the GUI resolution, so in the case of 4K videos, the playback resolution will switch also to 4K automatic. At least that's how it should work according this official developer description I've found.

Any thoughts on this anyone? Should I book this to myself as a correct description?! Or are there any more "tricks" in this case that I'm still not aware about?!

That is not  what I found as it is fairly easy to check the incoming resolution into the Samsung TV via the info button and this still remains at 1080p when playing a 4K film file using Kodi.

Did you tried to check the Adjust Refreshrate to match video option in KODI?!

There is also the auto fps patch for KODI available here on the forum, and in it's description it also lists the 4K resolution. So it must work in one way or another, otherwise why would it be even listed?! :

Do you have 4K resolution selected in the Himeda Settings?!

Sorry how I just trying to calculate, but I don't have any 4K TV to test these by myself, but still curious how it really works (if even works at all).

No I didn't change the refresh rate I will give that a try.
I am using the latest custom firmware which I think has any patches required.
Yes I did select the 4K resolution in the Himedia settings,  and when using the internal  media player the correct 4K res is shown on the TV info input so that works ok its just Kodi that doesn't.

Are you using KODI 17 or 16.1?! Regarding the many other issues with the 17, I would suggest to give a try on the 16.1 as well.

Yes its Kodi 17.1
I changed the refresh setting in Kodi and tried a 4K media file and the output was 4K  with the correct FPS (and also changed from 24p to 25p when required) even though the GUI still shows 1080p so the refresh setting change seems to work.
