There's a  "BD menu patch" by HiMedia, but it's still in "Beta" status (after like 4 subsequent FW's >:(). That means -in this case- that with it  you can't play the 23.976fps BD videos on the correct Hz, just on the GUI's 50 or 60Hz. So it's rather a hung of "better not to" and thus still stick to the lite menu...

Hmm, does it? I can't remember reading anything  in the changelogs of CFW's regarding if the proper freque switching would have been resolved with the BD menu patch.

That's the reason why HiMedia also keeps it as a patch just "under the pillow", because it isn't working properly for cadence correct playback to have it integrated in the stock player and dare to advertise it as a working feature.

They write in the Changelog "Includes patch for BD-ISO full menu support in HiMediaplayer. " so I thought this means full bd menu?

The patch could be included, but that makes no difference regarding the lack of proper freque switching from the full BD menu. It's practically the same if you just install the patch on the OFW yourself.

The patch is linked in the FAQ.

The "problem" is, that when you try to play a BD movie directly from the full BD menu, it doesn't switches the output frequency according to the video's original fps and the actual playback of the video stays and happens on the default refresh rate that has set for the GUI. I.e. in the case of a 23.976fps video it doesn't switches to 23.976Hz and will play back on 50 or 60Hz , that will result in micro stutters in the motion display.

So it's simply more reasonable to neglect the Menu patch entirely and rather choose to playback BD's without having it installed.

First of all BD menu patch is/was wrong name it from began,  a real functionality is switch ON/OFF of BD menu play options in HiMediaVideoPlayer menu(BDLite Navigation/Positive/Ask) and Region Selection(A/B/C). Positive is mean FULL Blu-ray Navigation.
For avoid AFR problems can try to use [PATCH] More auto framerate switching - HIMEDIAPLAYER, but have +/- benefit depend in real need of users, everyone have evaluate if need or not more auto framerate switching patch.

Note: CFW dosn't include more auto framerate switching patch.

OK guys you now have me TOTALLY confused !

Are you saying the BD Menu Patch and the Auto Framerate Switching Patch cannot coexist on the same box?

So should we:

1. NOT install the BD Menu Patch  but DO install the  Auto Framerate Switching Patch
or
2. NOT install the  Auto Framerate Switching Patch but DO install the BD Menu Patch

Which  :o ??? ::) :-[ :-X :-\ ?

I'm now also begin to get confused. So installing Auto framerate patch makes the player switch to the proper freque also when using the BD menu patch and starting the actual video playback directly from the full BD menu? Or that just applies without it? (Cause this latter is what I've presumed).

Having an option to choose to rather play without Full menu is nice, but makes not much more sense to me, than to not have it installed at all, cause the proper freque switching will happen only when the simple lite menu option is chosen.

And, whatever you select from the menu, audio track, subtitle... it doesn't matter because the player will use the default setting anyway.
The HiMedia kind of BD menu is completely useless, eyewash.
