Yes, I have read that and unfortunately I do not have workstation PC with a SATA bay. I only have a laptop. Will try to find a friend with a PC I can try this on. Thx!

Update...

Brought the Seagate Barracuda 3 TB into work, hooked it into internal SATA on workstation, cleaned via DOS then re-initiated and formatted via Disk Management. I still can't see the drive via Android OS, but can R/W to it via USB from my PC/Laptop to Q10.

So, yah... I'm still in the same spot where I have a Q10 PRO, that in essence functions like a Q5. Have tried pretty much every FAQ, help article, format option, etc... and can read the drive via USB (so I know the SATA ports are fine on the Q10. It just doesn't register the drive via Android 7 OS.

Can the futeko admin please reply and either give me some further ideas, or some sort of partial refund or RMA instructions?

TIA!

ETA: I DO NOT have a USB cable attached when I'm trying to read the internal HDD in Android 7. Just the box with the internal drive hooked up to my HTS.

Hi divinestyler,

Have you try my method to delete all partition/volume to make it totally blank? If you did, you should see corrupted USB drive in storage settings.  Then setup it as portable storage.  That's all.

Everything can be done with USB cable. No SATA connection is needed here.

Since you have Kodi 17 installed, does it find the correct internal drive name under "Files"?
The big advantage of Android 7 is it no longer names all drives as an sd drive (like Android 5.1 does).
If not, it still sounds like you are experiencing a weird formatting issue.  There are usually no problems with GPT large block partition and NTFS format being found.

Weird! Never have seen this. The last thing you can do is using "Minitool Partition Wizard Free" when hooked up via SATA to a PC. This will clean anything including hidden partions, recovery partitions etc. It also allows to format it with EXT4 which for sure should work.

Tried this. Both completely deleted/cleaned and uninitiated (no go) and then just initiated but with no drives created or formatted. I did not pick up a corrupted USB drive in storage settings. Just the 16 GB  "Internal Storage" that comes with the machine.

Since you have Kodi 17 installed, does it find the correct internal drive name under "Files"?

Nothing under files. :(

Will try this. I did try this at home via Laptop to Q10 USB. Was trying to avoid installing software on my work PC, since it's probably against the policy and I'm really not looking to get fired at the moment. :)

Appreciate all the tips from everybody though. This is definitely a weird issue, as I've formatted and built dozens of PC's throughout my personal and professional life. Cheers!

Did you try mount location post on FAQ topic?
http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1517.0

* Drive mount location? All apps except the HiMedia file browser and player use Android file structure. All directories and locations are subdirectories of root, which is symbolised as /. This is different for Android 5.1 and Android 7 firmwares. For Android 5.1: External drives are located at /mnt/sda/sda1 (Q10 Pro internal HDD only) and  /mnt/sdb/sdb1 then /mnt/sdb/sdb2 etc (all USB drives). For Android 7: External drives are located at /mnt/media_rw/sda1 (Q10 Pro internal HDD only) and  /mnt/media_rw/ (all USB drives)

Hmm... Personally, I will try to factory data reset the box. Then try again on fresh environment. If still cannot, RMA it.

I don't even see a "mnt" location when I try to add the drive in Kodi. Clearly I'm missing something super basic or have water on my brain. Both are very possible.

I just keep telling myself that I can see and R/W to it outside of Android, so it must be formatted correctly. I didn't expect such a learning curve from a standard Windows HTaPC and this Android box.

Im about ready to buy a NAS just to end this torture!

Ended up buying a NAS and was up and running in 30 minutes. Kodi all dialed in.

THanks for all the attempts to help everyone. I have a q105 now I guess. Atleast I got a working media center!  :o

I have this exact same problem on mine now as well.  The difference is that mine was working prior to update and now under storage settings it's saying my drive is corrupted..however it still mounts on my mac.

ideas?  I really don't want to copy 2TB off it to reformat and copy it all back again.

Assuming it is not a brand new drive, if you get warnings about disk corruption, pull it out and run some drive tests on it like Crystal DiskInfo
If it is physically unsound, reformatting will not fix the issue.  I had all sorts of read/write problems with a Seagate 3Tb in my PC and it ended up failing SeaTools and was RMA'd under warranty (<3 years).
