Q5 / Q10 4K3D CS Custom Firmwares
« on: June 08, 2015, 12:06:43 PM »
CS (user pcristi on this forum) has created custom firmwares for Q5 and Q10 4K3D with added+updated apps, ad blocking and some fixes.

This thread is an index to those CS custom firmwares.

DO NOT TRY AND INSTALL Q5 FIRMWARE ON Q10 OR VICE VERSA. IT WILL BRICK YOUR BOX.

Should I just wait the new firmware release by futeko which will likely to include the updated apps?

The Himedia official firmware won't contain many of the apps included in the custom firmware. It will always be more streamlined.

I would recommend installing the CS custom firmware if it's the same version number as official (as it is now with 1.0.9).

Every time you update the firmware, you have to re-do your Kodi library, which is a hassle, unless you save the userdata file. That's easy on the custom firmware but I'm currently on the official 1.0.9 firmware which doesn't give access to that level in the file manager. Anyone know how to get deeper (root) access to save the Kodi file before updating the firmware? Thanks very much!

Edit: Resolved by downloading ES File Explorer from the Play Store and ticking the "display hidden folders" box

New CS custom firmwares for Q5/Q10 based on 3.0.1. Including really nice looking launcher.

Decided to give the custom firmware a try, But it seems to completely cork the LCD screen on the front of the box. I get all kinds of squiggly stuff on boot and once fully loaded its blank.

Q5 or Q10?

Best thing to do is post on the softpedia forum, that way CS will register the problem.
