Q10 Pro hanging after playing several videos
« on: January 04, 2017, 09:36:54 AM »
Hi! I just got my Q10 pro about 3 weeks ago. When  I got it I connected a HD dock to the USB port. Everything went ok. But I noticed that after 2 or 3 episodes of watching my TV series, the video and audio would cut off in the middle of playing to a black screen with no audio. There is no error message. I can't get it to play again. The video bar stays frozen at the point it stopped. I have to exit out of playing the file. Sometimes Kodi restarts after I exit out of playing the file, other times it just goes back to the directory list where the file is and I can play the file from the start again. At that point The video will play like I just started it, no resume point. It has happened on movies as well, but have not been using the streaming capabilities yet see if it happens there as well.  It happened several times with different files and formats.

I thought it was a firm ware issue and flashed it to 1.8 but the issue still persisted. It is now in firmware 1.9 but it happened again last night.

I also tried increasing the buffer to 250MB though an addon as well as zero out cache after every video, again though an addon but no go.  The issue still persists.

Can it be a Hardware issue? Do I have to get a replacement device?

Please help!

I have exactly the same issue. >:(

I was thinking it's a fw issue due to the buggy 2.0, so i decided to wait for the new release because i never had problems with previous fw, but your informations (downgrade di 1.8, 1.9 and no luck) scared me. :(

I use  streaming via samba.

Are you using Kodi internal player or Himediaplayer (wrapper)? What version of Kodi?

I use himediaplayer with wrapper in kodi 16.
Bit I have the same issue also outside kodi, when I use the Mediaplayer.

Did you have this issue with 1.0.7 fw?!

Did you have this issue with 1.0.7 fw?!

I started with the original fw that came out of the box, 1.3, when I noticed the issue.  At first I thought it was a defective file or format, but it happened many time on many different files and formats. I tried searching for an answer on this forum but did not find anything. I then upgraded to fw 1.8, but that did not fix the issue. I even installed some addons to increase the cache and make sure it zeros out after each video but that did not work. Yesterday when I turned on my box it flashed on the screen the 1.9 fw update and I did that but the issue has not been resolved. I am using Kodi 16.1, the official stable release.

I did not try fw 1.7.

I am not sure since I just click on the video file to play it. I think its the Himediaplayer since the wrapper is the default player. I tried using the DVD player (the only other option on the "play with..." menu when I use the details menu) but since only one file is played I have not tested if it happens there also.

I'm using  the official stable version of KODI 16.1.

On another point off topic, I installed VLC but it does not show up as an option to play videos. How do i make it show up on the list?

Thanks!

I had an issue when I played some video files. When I clicked on the file, the Himediaplayer would start up but only show the Himediaplayer banner on the screen, the rest of the screen was black. It would not load. But when I used the DVD player app to play the file it was fine. I read some where in this forum last night that the culprit was the wrapper. I had to input the network password (or login) on the wrapper app. So I tried that and that worked. The Himediaplayer will now play the files from my PC network (Windows 10). I don't have to use the dvd player anymore. Just go to the settings of the wrapper app and put in your login info. i hope this helps  :) .

Thx, but in my case the himediaplayer starts fine everytime. (I have a lan without password)
My issue is that every now and then it stops itself and I have to restart the video.

Yours is an unsual problem that I can't explain easily. It's not something that other customers are experiencing.

It could be network related.

Juts a Tipp: Do you use any kind of peripheral (mouse, airmouse, keyboard) or other external devices (other than HDDs) plugged in the USB ports?! I had once an incompatible airmouse that made the system go nuts and had several hangs and freezes due playback as well, removing it, with a fresh boot fixed the issues.

Actualy it's exactly the same issue of the thread starter...
The only difference is that I have this issue via lan (and only with Q10) but the symptoms are the same.

Not working for me.
