Installation Instructions:

1. Copy update.zip to the root of a USB pen drive.
2. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of the M3 4K3D.
3. With the M3 4K3D turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole restore button on the side of the M3 4K (next to the blue USB port).
4. While keeping the restore button pressed, turn on the M3 4K3D.
5. The M3 4K3D will show an Android droid logo and proceed to upgrade the firmware.
6. The box will auto-reboot when finished.

I downloaded the file and tried to install it on my M3, but after 2 or 3 seconds, I got a message "Error" (and the dying Android-Robot). Downloaded it again, same issue. Nevertheless, I am able to install any other former Firmware-version (1.0.7 / 1.0., be it a custom one or not. Is it possible that the file uploaded is damaged somehow?

The download is deinfitely OK. Other customers have installed it without problem.

Where did you get the M3 from?

Our firmware packages are slightly different to those you might find on other sites for HiMedia products. With our you need to extract the 'update.zip' file from the archive directly onto the USB flash drive. There is no renaming.

So when I get it right, I have to unzip it and not rename it to "update.zip"? I am asking for I did rename your file to "update.zip" and put this file on the USB-stick...well, that could be the error, I guess...

Our download is a zip archive containing the update.zip file. This needs to be extracted to the USB flash drive. No renaming!

Lot's of people have had this problem because other sites are allowing direct download of update.zip.

The reason we do it this way is it prevents a corrupt download of update.zip from bricking a player (update.zip would not extract if it was corrupt).

Firmware is basically the same as Q5/Q10.
