Slow 5GHz AC Wi-Fi
« on: December 19, 2016, 08:03:57 AM »
First of all, I am very impressed with Q10 Pro Gigabit Ethernet performance. I am getting 938 Mbits/s from iPerf3 .  2.4GHz performs as it should be too at 46 Mbits/s. However, 5GHz AC Wi-Fi has poor result at 71 Mbits/s (connected at 433 Mbps). Just wondering, is this limited by Android 7.0 firmware or Q10 Pro hardware itself? Please advise. Thanks.  :)

How are you testing speed?

It's likely that you've hit a bottleneck elsewhere in Q10 Pro hardware / software, possibly the Samba server or the storage on Q10 Pro (fastest place to copy to will be Q10 Pro internal storage).

Using iPerf3 here.  Pure network bandwidth testing and does not touch any storage or software.

~ 71 Mbps is not that bad for AC wifi.

True for long distance. But the test was run just beside my router.  Most of my AC devices are getting 190 Mbits/s. I was hoping that the slowness is caused by software which can be improved with newer firmware.

Hard to say.  Have you tested Android 5.1 FW?

I instaled samba 1.0.1 and patch  on HiMedia - i choosed Instal i wrote local IP for HiMedia ( 192.168.1.xxx ).
I copy file 8GB with computer fo HiMedia - max speed 10MB/s  time copy about 20 minuts

Nope, mine comes with Android 7.0 pre-installed.

Seem like AC WiFi limitation itself. Check this post - http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1502.0

??? Wlan AC = 433Mbit MINUMUM! Even my mobile (cell) phones capable of WlanAC do connect @mhz 433Mhz

That's theoretical maximum connection speed. You won't get that maximum on any device.

10MB/s is ~ 80Mbps, which is not too bad for AC wifi.

You'll never get the theoretical maximum wifi connection speed on any device.

The numer of antennas and the router technology also has a big impact on Wifi speed.
I went from an apple airport giving 80Mbps on my ipad pro via ookla speed test to 220 Mbps with the same test using a portal router with fastlanes. This is my max internet connection speed so it may go higher if I had the bandwidth!
