Q5pro firmware on Q10pro
« on: December 13, 2016, 06:11:56 PM »
Accidentaly, I've installed firmware for Q5pro android 7 and then upgraded to 7.2 althought I own Q10pro.

When I go to device info, it says android version: 7.0 and on device, it's written "boot" all the time.

Can I just overwrite 7.0 for Q10 pro and then upgrade to 7.2?

Yes, you can just put in the correct version. Happened to me once also. It is Android 7 with Firmware 2.0.0 by the way.

I tried installing Q10pro 7.0 and it stuck on finish (wouldnt reboot) so I powered it off.
Then I put 7.2 to install and it rebooted normaly after upgrading but it's still written Q5pro in device info.

Tried factory reset to do everything again but nothing..

Downgrade from Android 7 to Android 5.1.1 with correct f/w this will fix device info.

That is a very long way to fix such an unimportant error!

I may presume that the next FW will apply the correct device info? In other words it is regarded a bug.

It's not a bug. The customer installed Q5 Pro FW on Q10 Pro, that's their mistake. It's fortunate that it didn't cause more problems than just having to reinstall firmware.

My point is that original Android 5 overwrites this but Android 7 does not. Strange at least.

I think it all goes down to needed space. Android 7 (Nougat) needs more space on /system partition. If you installed Nougat based firmware for the Q10 on Q5, then I would redo both steps needed for upgrading from Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) to Android 7.0 (Nougat).

Wrong point downgrade from Android 7.0 to Android 5.1.1 are done with special update.zip, witch can be use just for this scope.
How to downgrade from Android 7 to Android 5.1?
Q5Pro: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1393.msg10921#msg10921
Q10Pro: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1392.msg10920#msg10920

Same for upgrade from Android 5.1.1 to Android 7.0 are done with special update.zip, name on this forum STAGE 1.
STAGE 1. Migrate from Android 5.1 to Android 7
Q5Pro: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1393.msg10919#msg10919
Q10Pro: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1392.msg10918#msg10918

Like tmihai20 write system partition is 800MB on Android 5.1.1 and 1000MB on Android 7.0, device info are in 20MB partition, migration from Android 5.1.1 to Android 7.0 or back request rebuilding all partition. Safety way to do is to spend ~20 minutes and use special f/w build by HiMedia for this task. Installing Q5Pro f/w on Q10Pro is user mistake, they are lucky Q10/Q5Pro use some fastboot.img and box is NOT BRICK.

So, I should use Q10pro link?
Since on device is Q5pro firmware.. will it work Q5pro 7.2 fw -> Q10pro 5.1 fw?

Yes, do downgrade to Q10pro 5.1.1 with restore button.
In unlucky case if Q10Pro box not do automatic reboot and stack on Android 7.0 rainbow circle more that 15 minutes, don't panic, power of you box. replace update.zip from USB flash with original Q10Pro HMD 1.0.7 f/w and start again process with restore button.
