Upscaling
« on: December 08, 2016, 11:23:00 PM »
If I set the resolution output of the q10 pro to 2160p, will it upscale everything under this resolution ? If yes, how to desactivate it ? Is my TV (hisense xt910) upscaling too ?
Thanx to reply

Sure,

if youre TV is the better uspcaler (which i think it is), so choose 1080p 60hz Output and 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 8 Bit.

If  youre looking a 4k Movie or something similar, choose 2160p 24hz 4:4:4

I dont want to switch every time, is there a way to desactive the box upscaling (application or whatever)
And I want ycbcr but I cant set YcBcr 420 8 or 10 if the resolution is not 2160p60 ...

From safety reason change resolution from HDMI 2.0 2160p60 to HDMI 1.4 1080p24 can't be done in automatic mode.
This maybe can be done with extra dialog to confirm can see image and not go in permanent HDMI no signal.
Anyway this process can take up to 15 seconds witch for majority of user not is too much for Video clips / TV Show.

You mean that there is no other way to disable upscaling

Does another video application (compatible with uhd hdr10) that can auto switch the resolution or disable the upscaling from the q10 pro from any way exists  ?
Say yes please  :-\
And what is "hdmi auto adaptation" ? Does this fonction switch the box to the video resolution automatically  ?

Auto resolution switching cannot be done from Q5/Q10 Pro.

HDMI auto adaptation lets the box decide what is the optimum resolution for your TV at boot (not on the fly per video). I don't advise using it if you know what resolution you want the box to output in.

If you want 4K then set resolution to 2160P 60Hz or 24Hz and Q5/Q10 Pro will upscale lower resolutions.

Will there be an option in future update that let the user desactivate the upscaling  ?

If you mean that the player would switch HDMI resolution to the same as video for each video then it has been requested, but no guarantee that it will happen.

There are truckloads of videos with non-standard resolutions. Therefore (local) scaling to the best-fit/set standard is a very common practice. There are many problems with auto frame-rate but auto resolution even has a lot more variables to deal with. Many communities looked at it and gave up.

I agree with that. It would be nice to have as an option, but implementation would be inherently unsatisfactory.

A solution like the "autoresolution plugin" like on enigma 2 boxes would be perfect. But i dont think it will ever happen. :-X

It ist the same, or how you will be watch 4k movies in 4k and 1080p movies in 1080p? ;) On every switch between 2k and 4k the device will change his resolution too. There is no "native" output yet. You only get what you set in settings. Only dynamic switches between the frequencies of any reslolution works. Most of the time.
