Himediatech Firmware update Q5/Q10 4K3D
« on: November 22, 2016, 07:55:56 AM »
I have noticed on the Himedia website that they have upgraded the firmware's to version 3.04 in 2016 for most of their devices. There is no update for the devices Q10 and Q5 4K3D which are still at version 3.03 in Dec 2015.

I think the q10 an q5 were Himedia flagship devices and have some issues (for myself with the you tube on the start page), my query is if anyone could confirm if they have any insight if Himedia intend to upgrade the firmware as well on the q5/Q10 4K3D devices?

HiMedia have told us that there will only be updates to Q5/Q10 4K3D to fix problems with pre-installed app etc not functioning.

Does installing pcristi's firmware not fix the Youtube problem? http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1311.msg10349#msg10349

Alternatively you could try using a different launcher (installed from Play Store).

Thanks for the reply.

OK I will try pcristi's firmware. and see if that works.

I have tried other launchers but unfortunately do not like their layouts, I prefer the HImedia  launcher.

OK thanks a lot, everything is working now and I mus say I am very pleased with pcristi's ROM, I don't know why I did not try and use it before.

The only issue I now have is when starting a live news stream in You tube ( aljazeera or France 24 for example) there seems to be a 1 to 2 sec delay while the you tube live stream picture is focusing and then the picture plays clear. In the short You tube clips it is not the same, the short clips immediately start to play in focus. I do not have the same issue with my Himedia Q3II or other android players.

Does anyone else have the same effect in You Tube with the live stream focussing issue at start of streaming?

I must clarify that the same problem occurs in the Himedia firmware 3.03.

The 'focussing' is adaptive streaming, where the stream starts at low resolution and increases resolution steadily to the max your device/broadband can cope with.

I would guess that the other boxes are running an older version of Youtube that doesn't support streaming in this way. I don't think you can disable it, it's just how Youtube does it now.
