Update on next firmware (1.0.9)
« on: May 07, 2015, 10:19:54 AM »
HiMedia have told us that the next official firmware (1.0.9) for Q5 / Q10 / M3 should be released next week (~14-MAY).

It will contain:

1. Fixes for the Kodi / Chrome broken after update problem.
2. 23.976 fix (new HiSilicon firmware base).

It will possibly contain:

1. Samba ISO in Kodi using himediawrapper fix.
2. Screensaver.

It will not contain (still being worked on):

1. Auto frame rate switching. (HiMedia are working on this but it's too complicated for a quick fix).
2. PCM output always at 48Hz. (HiMedia are aware but it will require a chipset firmware base update from HiSilicon).

We (futeko) will be closed next week but we will make sure links to the new firmware are posted here on the forum as soon as they are available.

Nice to be have on himedia Q5...  ;D
- SMB/SAMBA/NFS mount permanent ( shortcut is nice ), lot of app not work with remote folder and  kodi can work with less proplem.
- stand-by mode, there is only on/off.
- better info about video playback with himediaplayer , bitrate codec ecc or codec info "like" kodi with debug information
- add 1080P24hz and 720P24Hz to "TV MODE" button on remote control.

Dear All,

I heard that HiMedia Q54K does not support any other language than 'English, Chinese'
Actually, I want to watch 'Korean''Japanese' and Thai subtitles.

Thanks.

so, in your opinion... should we update to this new 1.0.9 or stay with the 1.0.8 custom (CS mod FW) until CS (maybe) makes his modded version of 1.0.9?

you probably will only be able to answer this after you get your hands on the new one...  ;)

When I update to 1.0.9, will it keep hi control, himediawrapper, hishare and any other apk on the device?

When 1.0.9 is released it will be the bare-bones firmware without additional apps (hicontrol etc) like official 1.0.8.

The Himedia apps can be downloaded from the useful links thread stickied at the top of this forum.

At the moment the CS version of 1.0.8 is best for Q5 and the official 1.0.8 is best for Q10 / M3.

Hi futeko,

Any chance to pass the idea of implementation "AAC 5.1 -> AC3 5.1 -> HDMI/SPDIF passthrough" live trans-coding chain in the embedded media player to the HiMedia guys?
A lot of people have AAC 5.1 coded videos, but there are basically no players/receivers, which can decode it without down-mixing to stereo PCM.
HiMedia boxes would definitely dominate the market with such feature.  ;)

cheers,

Loulou

Hi,

I think it'd be better to not include Kodi and Chrome and let us install fron APKs. it was working fine before. You could win more place on the home screen and add another line of custom shorcuts for the APKs
XBMCWrapper cannot read my network videos. Can you fix It ?
I'd like to swicth off the device directly from KODI. Eventually, if you also can include a switch off menu from main screen.
Finnaly, is Q5/Q10 compatible with HDMI-CEC ?

Greetings.

Hi,

"99,99% people use  kodi .... you can  install other launcher "

me too (and xbmc launcher to not see the ugly himedia home menu), just thougt that to not install it let us install the version we want without overloading the player

"the SMB network should have no User ID and Password"

I don't like to leave my network without password. Do you have a solution for that  because it works very well with the internal kodi "DVD player" but not with the XBMCwrapper that provide sound and 3d ?

"you have swicth off  on remote control ,why dio you need swicth off  from kodi?"

just like a scheduled switch off when I forget to or while i fall asleep looking movie (specially with Q5 that heats a lot)

Finally, I have a trouble with my Q10. When I attach a USB drive before switching it on, it takes the priority on the internal drive and become the first drive (sda). that causes trouble with my setting (for exemple, with ES explorer). Is there a way to fix it ?

Greetings

there is a tips but it's not a good way.
if you navigate with himedia center center to folder with password and than open file with kodi himedia wrapper work.
YOU MUST DO EVERY TIME YOU TURN ON SYSTEM.

the point is that android app usually work only with local folder  himedia center center and himediawrapper "mount" (is linux command)  net folder as like local folder. But every time you turn off box it  unmount folder.

try to put SD card always, if it take priority you have solved.
