Taking an 7 year old TV I presume up-scaling and image improvements are better on Q10 Pro than on your TV. But doing some calibration work yourself is still recommended. See my tutorial for Imprex 2.0 on this forum.

So use auto frame-rate switching (= currently by 24P=ON  plus apply the special patch for DVD ) and use 1080P50 (having mainly PAL DVD's) or 1080P60 (having mainly NTSC DVD's). http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1043.0
This way switching (which is very visible) will be reduced to the minimum and upscaling and de-interlacing is done by Q10 Pro.
 
Turn on Imprex 2.0 Image processing only where and when needed specifically for old lower quality DVD's. Standard is off with all features off also.
PQ sliders at your preferences which will differ per person typically.

For chroma settings you may read this one http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1252.0 but a quick answer is to use YCbCr 4.4.4 also making Q10 Pro doing all the up-sampling (assuming the TV does a lesser job).

Why not 4:2:2 while it's still an option? It's closer to the "nativeness" of 4:2:0... So less upscalling in general. What do I miss here?!

The best setting is the maximum resolution and refresh rate your TV will support. In your case 1080p 60Hz. You should try the colourspace settings to see which you think looks best with your TV, but I'd go for 4:2:2. 8bit because your 7 year old TV won't support 10bit.

Adjust Imprex by pressing remote menu button when video is playing. Then go Setup - Advanced options - PQ Settings.

MKV 1080p the same as for DVD. Q10 Pro will probably do a better job of upsampling than your 7 year old TV so there's no need to be changing HDMI output resolution for different files.

As I said before doing some homework is the best (try both) but the assumption here was that Q10 Pro does a better upscaling job than an 7 year old TV.
Run myself with 4:2:2 as 4:2:0 can't be configured. I am practical convinced that my TV does the best job here.

Ok will do try and compare the 422 and the 444 as well my self. But I seems that theres some missundertanding or scrabling according this -maybe on my side-:
You talk about "upscaling", but in the case of selecting 422 the Q10 Pro will do less upscaling from 420 (against the 420->444 upscalling), and -I guess- since the output is 422 the TV won't need do any futher processing. Why would it?! How would the TV's colourspace upscalling mechanism come in the picture? I presume, that  In this case the diplayed result by the TV will be 422 as well. (Hope I did a fair and understandbale explonation regards my doubts here...) Or will any FHD TV do it's own -somehow- neccesarily and inavitable futher upscalling to 444 colour space beacuse some kind of technical standard (which I'm not aware of), which neccesitates that the displayed picture (the end result) must be allways 444?!

Not my knowledge area either. Just repeat what I read from professionals in the field. Did read a tutorial with trucks loads of details which when reading made a lot of sense. Don't ask me to repeat it though.

Seeing is believing. But even comparing is not that easy.

Makes de-interlacing work again, which was broken when auto frame-rate switching was introduced. Not trivial.
Thanks to pcristi and loun again fixed. I hope the next FW includes a final setup. Still using FW 1.0.6 myself. In my experience Zidoo X9S has the right implementation with also the correct set of options to enable it partially or fully matching any TV/Projector. Himedia could have a quick look there.
