Hi,
This is somewhat similar to my previous posting:
http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1290.0;topicseen
but I haven' been able to sort out the problem. I want to elaborate a bit more on it.
I have a home network:
A Huawei MF90C modem (192.168.1.1) is connected via USB to my Dovado Pro router (192.168.0.1), subnet 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.0.1.
I've got another router ASUS AC1900 bridged with the Dovado Pro as my LAN goes over different buildings and I need Wireless access all over the property.
As the second router is bridged it has the same IP address as the Dovado Pro and is invisible on the network.
Before I bought the HiMedia Q5 Pro I had a Dune HD Smart D1. I still got it but I'm using it in another room. Before I installed the HiMedia my LAN was functioning great and every computer had access to the LAN and internet. All my devices use static IP addresses.
The moment I installed the HiMedia Q5 Pro I noticed something weird. When the device was switched on I lost access to the internet on all my computers. When I switch off the HiMedia Q5 Pro everything goes back to normal. The bizarre thing is when it's switched on I 'm still able to use Skype but none of my browsers is able to access the internet.
On the HiMedia Q5 Pro I've got Wireless disabled, Bluetooth and Ethernet enabled. The static IP of the HiMedia Q5 Pro is set to 192.168.0.35 (My DHCP range on the router is set between 101 and 255), so this address won't cause any conflicts.
It was suggested to me to change the gateway to an invalid address (192.168.0.2 or even 0.0.0.0). I've tried this but to no avail.
Obviously I can't switch off the Ethernet because the HiMedia Q5 Pro connects to my NAS to show videos, pictures and music.
We live in the bush and have only 12GB of data per month. I am not interested accessing Chrome, Facebook, Skype, etc via the HiMedia Q5 Pro.
The only thing I want to do is to watch content from the NAS. So, everything else can be uninstalled as it won't be used at all.
I also noticed that when the HiMedia Q5 Pro is switched on I lose functionality on my TV (Samsung UA55H7000AW). Eg. when I press mute on the remote the "mute"-symbol appears on the screen but the sound is still there!
The only connections I've got on the HiMedia Q5 Pro is a Cat5E ethernet cable and a HDMI cable going to my Yamaha RX-V1067 receiver. It's connected to the same HDMI port as my Dune Smart D1 was.
I am puzzled. I don't call myself an expert in networking but so far I have been able to set up a home network going through two routers and connecting about 15 different devices with no problems whatsoever.
The HiMedia Q5 Pro is running KODI 16 Jarvis and has the latest firmware installed. I only bought it two weeks ago from Futeko and all sotware was pre-installed. I haven't installed anything myself. Unfortunately there's no handbook available and the end-user is left to their own to work all these things out.
Is there anybody out there who had similar problems? What was your solution?
Many thanks in advance for suggestions, solutions.
Cheers,
Luc
