Use HiMedia H8 without a TV
« on: September 27, 2016, 10:47:39 AM »
Sometimes, I just want to play some music out of my HiMedia H8 either from my connected USB drives or some music streaming site.  Is there a way to control the H8 entirely from my smartphone without having to turn on the TV?

Thanks!

There is an Android remote app, but it doesn't support screen mirror.

So you need a TV.

disadvantages
- Mirroring360 Sender Basic need start from device so request TV ON for connect to others device/pc
- Can control HiMedia box from receiver --> need original IR remote/Airmouse to control.

Thank you so so much!  I've been trying to get my media player to do this for ages (used to own a Mede8er).

Teamviewer works perfectly to on my H8.  Its kinda sluggish and clunky but gets the job done.  I use both my PC keyboard and the H8 remote to control the media player.  Now I never need to turn on the lumbering TV just for some music.

I forgot to mention that I'm controlling the H8 from my PC thru Teamviewer. Since I work on the PC mostly, it's actually more efficient than using my smartphone.  I just wasn't aware that there's a pc program to do this without having to manually run something first on the H8 everytime.

Will be trying the Mirroring360 next for those times when my PC is off.

Edit: Oh, didn't notice your note at the bottom that Mirroring360 needs to run on the H8 first.  That's a deal breaker because then I'd have to turn on the TV. :)
Teamviewer's Android host component just listens in the background for a request coming from the Teamviewer client on my PC.  The nice thing about all this is its FREE!

I don't stream with Teamviewer, I only use it to show me the screen of HiMedia H8 so I can pick my playlist. Its very slow but it serves its purpose.  The H8 outputs my music to my receiver and sound system, not my pc. So there is no problem with the music output.
