IMPORTANT! THIS FIRMWARE IS FOR EUROPEAN Q10 4K3D (MANUFACTURED AFTER NOVEMBER 2014) ONLY. DO NOT TRY AND FLASH IT TO OTHER REGION Q10 4K3D.

Installation Instructions:

1. Extract update.zip to the root of a USB pen drive (so the USB pen drive should contain a single file named update.zip).
2. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of the Q10 4K3D.
3. With the Q10 4K3D turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole restore button on the back of the Q10 4K3D.
4. While keeping the restore button pressed, turn on the Q10 4K3D.
5. Keep the restore button pressed until you see an Android droid logo.
6. Release the button and the firmware upgrade will proceed.
7. The box will auto-reboot when finished.

This firmware does not have the HiMedia Kodi wrapper pre-installed (HiMedia have decided that this is best) so if you want 7.1 audio and 3D support in Kodi you will have to install it.

The wrapper has been tested by us on the pre-installed Kodi 14.2 and Kodi 15.0 alpha2 and works fine.

Hello Futeko,
please let me know if YouTube is really working normally. With 1.0.7 all videos were stuttering and I have to use Viral instead with GPU acceleration OFF. Is it fixed with this FW?

For a certain reason, Kodi cannot be updated, I tried uninstalling 14.2 and installing 15 it keeps reverting back to 14.2 when restarted. Same goes for Chrome, it updates and then reverts back to the installed version. Although the interface looks prettier, but this version is not as stable as 1.0.7....I will revert back to 1.0.7 for the time being.

Try to put in an USB key the Kodi 15 in APK file and try bu this way. Think it will work without problem....

This is have because of safety script.
HiMedia forced to have Kodi and Chrome installed for new Launcher
if box not rooted try
- uninstall Kodi 14.2
- don't reboot
- install any version you like
- reboot
- maybe not revers back to original

if box is rooted will work like this
- uninstall Kodi 14.2
- deleted kodi.apk form /system/etc/
- reboot
- install any version you like

My box is not Rooted....and I don't know how to root it. I did some online research and I found rooting procedure in Chinese and German. I don't understand any of these languages.....do you know how to root this box?

HiMedia will have a fix for the Kodi/Chrome updating problem within a few days. We don't recommend rooting the Q5.

Dolphin Browser won't play YouTube vids, will only play the audio with a black screen. I love Dolphin.
Change Luancher Q5 back 1.0.7.
