Futeko Q10 Pro local networks issues
« on: August 31, 2016, 05:05:49 PM »
I has explain my problem, and I ask for help ... I apologize for my poor English

The problem is basically that I can "see" the pro Q10 Futeko in Explorer Windows 10, on my local network.

I explain a little settings:

I have a local network, managed by the modem / router of the Internet company.
This modem router, I have wired, both the Q10 hard disk as a PC with Windows 10.
Also I have a D-Link NAS in the same local network
Also they are connected by wireless, various devices, Android phones.

MEDIA PLAYER Futeko Q10, I have internet access, the browser works.
I can also access the NAS.

The problem is:

NO "VEO", OR HAVE ACCESS TO HARD FUTEKO Q10 PRO, FROM WINDOWS EXPLORER, CONNECTED TO THE SAME THROUGH LAN CABLE, OR WITH MOBILE PHONES, connected by WIFI.

Any ideas? I read something about installing a SAMBA server in the MEDIA PLAYER Futeko.

To enable Samba sharing from the Q10 Pro go:

Home - Settings - More - SAMBA Service - Check the top box called SAMBA.

This will enable Samba sharing. Workgroup name is WORKGROUP. Q10 Pro will be called something like 'android_c075c'.

Turn on Samba as described above by Futeko.

If you want to find the internal HDD from Windows:
On your Windows 10 laptop open File Explorer and click on Network.
You should find ANDROID_B927C (or similar name).
Click on "Share"
Click on "sda"  then "sda2".  This should be your internal Q10 Pro HDD   :)

There may be variations of names if you have a USB drive plugged in as well.

Great
Thanks  ...
I don't know if it's just me ... I seem to use my wifi network to get into the Q10 pro  files ... then connect  to laptop via USB lead to see my Q10 pro hard drive ???
Should I be able to see all of the Q10 pro files + hard drive just one way ???
All the best om

Hello, Is there any possibility to change the name of the workgroup actually in the Q10 Pro to match the one I am already using in my home ?
You explained the other way around. I used several media center like the DUNE. You can always settup the workgroup in the network section. BUT I couldn't find it in the Q10 Pro. I have look around for the past weeks, posted in many forums, but no one could give me an answer.
Thx for your help.

At the moment, no. The Samba workgroup name is WORKGROUP.

I'll pass it on to HiMedia as a feature request.

Thank you for your answer. It drove me crazy and I work as a network admin :)

After enabling SAMBA on my Q10, there was nothing like 'android_c075c' under Network or under 'WORKGROUP'.

The only thing I saw on my PC under Win10 were 3 icons:
1. under Media Devices: "TV Box@200(HIMEDIA)"
2. under Media Devices: "TV Box@200(HIMEDIA)"
3. under "Other Devices": "TV Box"
When clicking on one of the icons I saw some folders ("Music", "Video", ...) but didn't see my HD or USB drive

I had to give my Q10 a fixed IP (192.168.1.200) and then I could map a drive letter to "\\192.168.1.200\share\media_rw" to access the different HDs or USBs connected to my Q10.
By mapping a drive letter to "\\192.168.1.200\share\" I could access the system folders.

Hello!

I have tried to enable SAMBA at the first time since i have the Q10 Pro (panning to buy an internal HDD in it), and having the same exact issue as in the quoted post above. Except that I couldn't get it work even with the drive mounting method neither. When i try to connect it wrotes some "Network error" in Windows. Tried also from Total Commander and it still gives me the "Access denied" error.
However I still can access my Shared folders on my Windows PC from the Q10 Pro, and I even can access the Q10 Pro Shares from my Android Tablet. I just can't reach the Q10 Pro from my Windows PC, tho' it would be essential.

I'm in a homegroup (called Homegroup) in my Windows PC. :(

Would there be a solution you could advise?!

Thank you!

I'm not sure what the 'official' way to do it is but I did this:

1. On the Himedia Q10

- Enable SAMBA in the settings

- Go to MyApps > MediaCenter > LAN > Autosearch

This should come up with two entries:

    ANDROID_XXXXX
    PC

You need to write down that Android number for the next part!!!

2. On the Windows 10 Computer

- Open File Explorer (You should see Folders / Devices & Drives / Network Locations)

- Click on the "Add a Network Location" icon on the top menu, click "Next"

- Select "Add a Custom Network Location", click "Next"

- Type in the network address to the required directory, for example:

    \\ANDROID_XXXXX\share\media_rw\sda2
    \\ANDROID_XXXXX\share\media_rw\sda2\Music
    \\ANDROID_XXXXX\share\media_rw\sda2\Video

(You can use the "Browse" button), click "Next"

- Type in a meaningful name for this new location e.g. "Himedia Q10 Pro" or "Himedia Q10 Pro Music" or ""Himedia Q10 Pro Videos", then press "Next"

A new icon should then appear under "Network locations". Before you ask, I can't find a way of changing this icon to something better.

If you change your mind later, just right click on the icon and delete the share.

maelor:

Thanks for the helping attempt, but sadly it just doesn't worked at all.

I have turned on SAMBA, and checked with LAN->Search, but all it gives me is the "No server" popup. It can't see and list neither my Windows PC or the Q10 Pro Box itself.  :( (Extra strange how the Box can't even see itself on the network).

I have to check my Android Tablet to see the name of the Q10 Pro listed in the network. But when I've entered it in as a network location path in Windows (as you described, like: \\ANDROID_xxxxxxx\share) it just gave me the "The folder you have entered appears to be invalid" error. Same result with the Box's ip address.

So i'm stunned, and just have no other idea how to get around this...  :???

Oh, did forget: I'm on Windows 7 and the Q10 Pro has the 1.0.9 (Android 5.1) fw on.

Any other suggestions will be appreciated, thank you!

I suggest installing latest firmware. It's difficult to give you good support when you're running an old firmware different to 95% of users.

This should work, regardless from the current fw version. It should wok on 1.0.9 just as it would on 2.0.5. What would make you state that on 2.0.5 it will work anyway?!  Waiting for stable CFW 2.0.5 (and also if there aren't some bothering new bugs again), so i may upgrade sooner or later. But what would your "support" be if it would turn out, that it won't work on 2.0.5 neither?! Thanks!

I mean support from the community, not necessarily from me. I run Linux almost exclusively, so I'm not the best person to advise on Windows networking. You would get better quality feedback if your firmware was the same as the majority.

For what it's worth, my advice would be to change your windows networking workgroup name to WORKGROUP. After that there are many guides online to accessing Samba shares using Windows 7.
