« on: August 28, 2016, 10:05:10 PM »
I hava q5 pro.i have Marantz AR 5.1 with SPDIF inputs only.it is supporting max 24/96khz.
No hdmi input.
Everybody here is talking about hd audio through hdmi.I am interested in SPDIF output....bits? khz? max channels on flac and resolution? SACD.iso? PCM? BDaudio?..etc
What settings i do on q5 spdif...5.1 or raw or lpcm...on what format?
What player is best for HD audio?

Uhhh, many questions.Maybe some expert in here.
I need explenation on this.
Thanks in advance!

According to the official SPDIF standard this is correct 48 KHz max with also a 1.5 MByte bandwidth max.

Some implementations allow for 24/96 (and expensive DAC implementations have even shown 24/192 to work).
Also Optical (=plastic) and Coax ports may behave different limits here including the quality of the cable.
Also SPDIF via USB exists and that works at even 24/192 see implementation reported here also with Q10 Pro.

Everything above 48 KHz is a grey area. It is time to say SPDIF goodbye.

I have SPDIF/Toslink Input on my Geek Pulse Infinity DAC/Amp.

Have watched movies thru Kodi in it and the DAC/Amp displayed 24/96. Didn't test with music though. Will try tonight.

Will get back at you tomorrow.

Thanks Bro!

I think this is still a valid link for those who want to test their system with different high res format. Nice that they added MQA and DSD256.

To onyxx1995

So I connected my Toslink cable. At first I haven't heard any sound until I resetted my DAC.  I upgraded my DAC to a beta firmware that could support native DSD256. So no display confirmation on Toslink. It just says "TOSLINK".

BUT  Kodi did play some of my music files:

FLAC - 16/44, 24/96, 24/192, 24/352.8 [DXD]
WAVE - 24/96
MP3 - 16/320Kbps
SACD/DSD - DFF nad DSF at DSD64(2.8Mhz), it stutters at DSD128

SPDIF setting on Q10Pro was in RAW.

Interesting that I could play DSD64 material on Kodi. Will it confirm of its standalone ability to play DSD?

Well I need to place an Analog RCA stereo jack into it....

Sorry to hear that.

Last week bought an Spdif RCA/Coax cable. And it played music through my DAC.

System Spdif settings: RAW

Using Himedia Music Player it played MP3, 24/96 Flac, 24/192 Flac. It can't play DXD (32/352.8 Flac) and DSD64 (.dsf).

However through UAPP (USB Audio Player Pro) it played everything the app could support. But it used the ASL (Android Sound Layer) to do this. Thus converted everything to 16/48 regardless of bit depth or rate.

Could not confirm the bit/depht rate since my DAC dosen't display important info.

Did yours play??
