Resolution problem

Hi Futeko!

After shutdown, the box does not retain the resolution settings. If I set to 2160p 60Hz and I shut down it and then after turn on, I always get 1080i 60Hz. What is to be done?

Same problem here:

I can choose any 2160p resolution (24,25,30 or 60hz) and it works perfect. Then i put the Q10 Pro into standby and when restarting the resolution stays at 2160p for about 3-4 seconds and while the Himedia-Logo is still shown the player switches to 720p50...when the player is powered up i can switch back to 2160 without problems...

Another fun fact: the 'hdmi auto adaption'-switch in the display-setup menu also chooses  720p50 automatically when activated. But when 2160p is selected the switch gets turned off. Maybe it is still activated somewhere in the boot-process...?

I never had that problem, and i disconnect my electronics from power completely over night.
Then again, i am using a 1080p HD TV - so this may be a 4k TV issue..?

Yeah, just tested it, 1080p works without problems. Issue only exist with 2160p resolution.

I have a problem that no AUTO resolution mode in the Q5 media player.

You can adjust only fix resolution mode on the  media player. Why it is bad? If you adjust the resolution of media player 2160p than all played movie will be converted according to this resolution (e.g.  1080p movies will be converted to 2160p). I don't want it. My TV should do this not the media player.
I have a same problem if I adjust 1080p resolution just reverse.

Do you see any solution in the short future?

Auto switch will be fixed. Bug. You have to do it manually.If i put 1080p in settings,all my movies are playing in 1080p and TV is doing upscalling to 2160p.if i put 2160p in setting,all are playing in 2160p...the q5 is doing upscalling(1080p movies)...so i dont see any problem..how many movies do you have in 2160p?

At the moment I think most customers would prefer things as they are, with Q5/Q10 Pro scaling to system resolution.

I certainly see why some people would want a setting so output resolution matches video resolution though and have passed it to HiMedia as a feature request. It will become more of an issue as people gather more 4K video.

Was discussed here before in detail and the outcome was that Auto-resolution switching is not a good idea. There are many complex reasons for this but they were able to at least to convince me. Even the KODI community abandoned the idea.

Bottom line it is very doubtful that it will ever come.

I have asked HiMedia to implement it but I agree that it won't be used by many people.

Since HiMedia are working on auto match fps to Hz they may as well add an option to auto-switch resolution. It's going to using similar code and menu options.
