Bit perfect spdif output
« on: July 17, 2016, 05:13:15 PM »
Hi just bought a Q10 pro, in the process of setting up, can i get the box to output a bit perfect stream from coax SPDif socket, to feed to a dac, to go onwards to my Musical Fidelity stereo amp which drives the front 2 channels in my 5.1 setup, so i can play Wav files  from a  hard drive, and do away with the need for a cd player, all movie/tv sound would be output over HDMi to my Yamaha 3020, Thanks for any replies in advance.

Yes, you can.
In Settings - Playback - SPDIF Output should be RAW.
It is set RAW by default.

Hi stack, thanks for that, that's how i have it set up, i would have expected that if it was outputting a bit perfect signal it would have by passed the Q10s digital volume control.

Yes, it passed the audio through the Himedia and audio processing is doing by my home cinema receiver.
I'm using optical connected SPDIF and it is working, so digital volume of the Himedia player is not active.
Unfortunately I can't do a test with coaxial cable, but I have a free time, I will connect it.

HDMI - RAW
SPDIF - RAW
HBR - 5.1 for example

Is the passthrough option enabled?
System - Settings - Audio output - Enable passthrough.

Hi stack, i don't have the  enable bypass option on my Kodi, only enable DSP processing , i have the latest firmware 1.0.5 with Kodi 16.1, do i need a different Kodi wrapper to get the bypass option.

Hi stack, sorry my bad, i should have said i have no pass through option in Kodi system audio settings, only " Enable audio DSP processing " if you click on that  i get a pop up saying " no audio DSP options can be found " followed by " You need an add on installed to be able to use audio digital processing ( DSP ) " am i missing something.

On the left bottom side go to Settings level and switch to Expert.

Enable passthrough will be listed on the right side.

Enable audio DSP processing is not needed.
