Has anyone tried MrMC (Kodi fork) with HiMedia?
« on: July 30, 2018, 05:53:39 AM »
I'm interested if anyone here has tried running the new Kodi fork of MrMC on their Q10Pro or Q5Pro?

This has been developing separately from Kodi and now has the talents of the Kodi Android programmer Koyong (who developed the SPMC fork and has now joined forces).  I know SPMC runs ok (and can even use the standard wrapper file extension for external video playback).

There have been a few people promoting its use on other forums (with different hardware).

Did not cut the mustard for me, apart from the free version (lite) being limited to listing only 8 items in a folder. The sound was a dismal failure for me.

My requirements are 7.1 surround, the best I could get with passthrough enabled was Dolby Digital.
DTS, DTS HD, DTS-MA & Dolby TrueHD all failed.

At least Kodi can play all of the above, although limited to 5.1 channels. But what really excels is the wrapper can play all of them in the correct format (identified on my amp display) including the 7.1 channel formats.

It is now gone from my box, I have uninstalled it.
