@futeko
This is still an issue, and was already reported in general last september (see http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1099.0).
With 2.03 and embedded SRT in MKV (and as I'm only watching original languages, reallay ALL my movies & shows have embedded SRTs), the trailing "</i>" is still printed. It's annoying enough that the internal player cannot show these subs in italic (that's really somewhat the minimal standard); but as a workaround to not annoy the users any further, the omitting of the tags, including the end tag, should really not be such a hard-to-solve issue.
Just switched from Dune to HiMedia, and the support for new and or "strange" formats is great (it was good on Dune, but better on HiMedia). But for any film enthusiast, correct subtitles are one of the most important features, and this is a bit... lame... sorry...
Best regards
