HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Wrapper 2:35:1 setting not working correctly
« on: February 08, 2019, 12:51:59 AM »
I have a 2:35:1 setup and I was using the 2:35:1 option in the Himedia Wrapper to cut off movies that are not fitting on the screen. But with the latest update this functionality is not working as expected. It stretches the picture vertically (even bigger than the original ratio). Anyone experience this issue? Thanks!

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Stuttering on Q5Pro
« on: November 03, 2017, 02:07:31 PM »
I cant get Q5 Pro to play 4k movies. Lots of stuttering. I may have some setting wrong.

My setup is Marantz Receiver SR7000, Epson 5030 projector. Files stored on network. Using SMB to connect to network folders.

The wrapper is set to play all of the videos instead of Kodi . Firmware is latest 2.0.6.

The files are HEVC 10Bit.

1080p files bigger in size than the 4K files are playing fine. I checked the drive and network. Seems to be fine.

The current settings are 24Ghz on, Display is 1080p 60ghz (doesnt allow me to change it). I tried setting the Imprex engine on and off..no effect..

In KODI settings: Disable media mediacodec  (surface)

Advance settings are set to YCbCr422

What should be the ideal settings for the HiMedia Player to play them correctly in my scenario? Please help!

Is it the wrapper definitely playing the files? Whilst playing a file press remote menu key, what sort of menu do you get? you should get a mostly text menu in bottom left corner.

Do the files play OK through HiMedia media center (accessed from home screen)? Performance from this player and Kodi+wrapper will be identical.

From FAQ about checking for and reinstalling wrapper:

* How to check wrapper is installed? Run Kodi and navigate to Videos - Files - any video file. Press remote menu key. You should get a 'play using..' option with 'Wrapper' as an option.
* How to reinstall wrapper? Shutdown Kodi. Find wrapper app at My Apps - Wrapper. Select 'use Kodi player'. Exit wrapper app. Run wrapper app again. Select 'use wrapper player'. Exit wrapper app. Restart Kodi.

Kodi settings (mediacodec etc) are irrelevant when using wrapper. Main system settings are the one to look at. Settings - Playback. 24Hz should be on.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, the media player is playing the files. I tried playing with the 24Ghz setting on as suggested. Now they seem to be fine. Thanks a lot for your help!

What are the best recommended settings for good picture/audio quality on the Q5 Pro for 1080p projector?

My setup is a Marantz SR7000 (Only supports Dolby 5.1 and DTS 5.1).Receiver and Epson 5030 1080p projector.

I do have some 4K movies. All content is local. No streaming from Kodi/Addons.

I am ok with using HiMedia Player exclusively for playing movies.

Does the HiMedia player transcode rest of the audio formats not supported by my Receiver (Dolby True HD, Atmos..).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: HiMedia Wrapper Philips Hue Control
« on: October 21, 2017, 06:44:01 PM »
So... dont have idea...i am on philips 65 tv and can control everything...i think kodi and cinemavision is the only thing that can make what you want...
Or turn lights with phone ;D...i dont think that there is any player that can even control hue.

Thanks! Yes, looks like the only option is to use kodi but I prefer to use HiMedia Player...

Some other players added support for cinemavision by modifying them a bit...Hope HiMedia does it too!!

What players did that? I guess you can forget the HiMedia support entirely... (The HiPlayer is a very basic "media only" build as in interface such as in functions, and there are still important bugs waiting to be fixed. The last thing that would come up to HiMedia's programmers mind is to add Cinemavision support...) Sorry...

From my very brief research DSPlayer was modified to work with CinemaVision..

On a side note do you guys use HiPlayer for all videos including 1080p or only for 4K...How is the PQ with HiPlayer vs Kodi internal player in general? What do you guys prefer?

I was assuming that a specialized player like HiPlayer would make better use of the hardware of the box...

Thanks for the reply!

More than ambilight I am looking for the functionality to switch off lights when movie plays and turn them on when it stops.
It works great with Kodi. Wish we had this in the media player.

If the wrapper doesnt work, does mx player have this functionality?

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / HiMedia Wrapper Philips Hue Control

Brand new owner of Q5 Pro here..

Did anyone have success controlling Philips Hue Lights from the Wrapper??

Kodi hue addon works on kodi, but not in wrapper. Cinemavision addon also has the same problem..

I invested a lot in Hue Lights for my home theatre and I would like to continue using the HiMedia Player instead of the Kodi internal player as much as I can..

Even if cinemavision works it is fine too as I can use that addon to control hue lights...

Thanks a bunch!
