My request would be to add a discrete ON and discrete OFF IR code.  Right now I believe it is only a power toggle.

My Q10 PRO is an integral part of my home theatre setup and I use a Harmony remote to control it I'm sure like many others.  Because I also use the box to share media and download content I like to leave it on for long periods of time.

With the standard power toggle on the remote turning 'on' an activity can inadvertently power off the device, which is a pain if I am in the middle of a background task.

A piece of stick-it put over the IR-receiver on the front panel will do the trick as a workaround.  ;)

It would work if I wanted it on 100% of the time but really only about 40-50% of the time I would use it for background tasks.  I can also set the Harmony remote to 'leave this device on between activities' as well but this would have the same effect as a 'sticky'.  :P

The discrete command is a much cleaner way to integrate into a home theatre setup.  I wonder how much work would it be to add these codes?  And perhaps a wake-on-LAN functionality as well...

- Due to poor quality of Q5/Q10 Pro in upscaling (see this thread), ability to select in HiMedia player among several interpolation algorithms for video scaling (Lanczos, Nearest Neighbour, Bilinear, Bicubic...) There is no a 'perfect scaling method', so the user will pick the closest to its taste. Kodi's player (dvdplayer) already has this option built-in.

I will pass this on, but it might be difficult to implement requiring work at the chipset level. Another way around this would be for there to be an option for Q10 Pro to output at source resolution, so 1080p content would output at 1080p when box set to 4K mode (as opposed to present where box upscales it to 4K). This has been requested before but I will request it again.

This would be much appreciated. I have my Q10 pro attached to a 4K Philips PUS9809 which provides excellent upscaling from 1080p.
One thing I've noticed when I let the Q10 do the scaling from 1080p to 2160p (60Hz) the audio is out of sync.
Changing the output back to 1080p/60Hz on the Q10 everything is fine.
So there seems to be some kind of mismatch occurring between audio and video during upscaling by the Q10.
Note: this is with 24p ON and latest firmware 1.07, Kodi+wrapper (all enhancements disabled or off).

Is this not the best option? You can then manually power off Q10 Pro (with harmony) whenever you have finished with downloading etc.?
I am keen to know how separate a Power "on" and "off" buttons will help you in keeping the Q10 Pro switched on after an activity, only when you need it to be? I have never had this option and requirement, so would like to learn..

Futeko admin,

The option to output at source resolution is fine and was the solution used by my old TVIX 6500A multimedia player. In addition, you still can let the user upscale with the current method if wanted, but a sharper method would be desireable.

And what do you think about this?
The 16-segment LED display of this machine is missed. Now with firmware 1.0.7 the display shows current playback time besides a clock (when player is stopped) but this display can show uppercase and lowercase letters and even some symbols (dots, commas, hyphens...) Non-printable symbols could be replaced by a blank space (like my old TVIX). So I think it would be a good idea to allow the following:

* When playing a file, switch among current playbacktime -> current file name (with scroll if name is too long) > clock by pressing repeatedly a button on the remote. Also show on display the currently selected file on HiMedia File Manager. I don't know if this could be possible on KODI, but my guess is this is not hard to achieve on the HiMedia native player.

* Also the option to turn off the (highly bright) display for a comfortable session (without distractions). This would be very appreciated among users.

Thank you very much.

Available already via Display options: LCD Display ON/OFF.

Thank you very much.

Ok, I didn't know, thanks. But I still think it would be nice the option to adjust display brightness among OFF -> LOW -> MEDIUM -> HIGH (or OFF -> LOW -> HIGH) . I don't know if firmware and/or display can support this though.

Requested many times but the hardware does not support it was the answer. Would have liked it as well.

It is an option but certainly not the cleanest option.  In my household there are several users across several zones.  I need a set up that allows multiple activities to be used by multiple harmony remotes (2 hubs) with users who are not technically savvy.  I have a set up that works very well 90% of the time meaning I rarely have to intervene or provide support.

All of my other equipment has discrete on and off settings which make designing activities easier.  It is acceptable to me to have a device left on but not turned off which would impact the activity.  With only a 'power toggle' setting, devices can get turned off between activities.   I do like turning off devices when appropriate to save power and be 'green.'

If it was just me I wouldn't care that much because I understand the setup intimately.  I think other forums call it the 'WAF' or wife-acceptance-factor.  I hope this helps.

I think this device will be a reference-quality media player so it is reasonable to ask for this feature if it is technically possible to do.

Assuming Q10 Pro has separate "ON and "OFF" I am keen to know how you would design the activity(s) to switch "off" Q10 Pro only when you want to...
Thanks.

I see a problem for this nice feature. Which button of the remote do you think is the most suitable to switch display information? I think the remote is lacking in an "INFO" button for this feature... This might seem of little importance, but I think that if HiMedia do not find the way to use this feature, the feature will NOT be implemented. You cannot rely on onscreen menus if you want to use this machine as a music player with your TV powered off.
In this case, the feature could not be used when playing files with HiMedia player, only the print file name feature (with scroll) could be implemented when selecting files on HiMedia File Manager, because it does not require any button press.

Feature request:

Q 10 Pro with internal HDD.
Have a pop up/warning appear when connecting a USB cable to the back of Q10 Pro, since it will override access to the HDD.

If you don't know that, you might think that
a) your HDD does not work with Q10 Pro
b) SATA or HDD is defect
The question is if the software can even detect this. The actual switching is done by a Chip in HW. It probably simply uses the +5V detection (you can verify  this connecting the USB cable to a 5V USB charger port).  This chip is being used already since several generations of media players and most players with Internal HDD support use exactly the same chip. None known to me do report "Slave HDD Modus activated" or an equivalent message.

The Hicontrol Android app works very well for controlling Q5/Q10 Pro as a music player without turning on the TV.

As to remote buttons, the number buttons are hardly used so these could be mapped to new features.

I submitted a bug/feature request report to HiMedia yesterday regarding adding filename info to front display and suggested toggling info display via a remote number button.

Many thanks. Remember that it would be nice to have the following sequence: current playbacktime -> current file name (with scroll if name is too long) > clock. Scroll is important, because 6 characters are not enough to show full file names.
It will not be very intuitive, because users will have to remember the number button used for toggling information, but at least the feature (hopefully) will be implemented. I suggest the '0' or 'DEL' buttons.

Hello again!

This time as I had been spend some time with the Q10 Pro in general, and had a chance to figure out some of it's mechanism regarding practical and everyday usage. According KODI, I have came up with this request, that could be usefull for -guessing- a plenty of us (Tho' don't know if it's technically doable):

New feature Request :

When in KODI's GUI, it would be useful to have a dedicated button on the stock remote to switch (with one press, like in the case of  "TV Mode") between the Wrapper's state. Like: First push: Himedia Player, Second Push: KODI. I came up with this while frequently browsing and changing IP TV channels (in KODI, with Simple IP TV Add-On), and found a bit unconfortable to always go through and press the Menu button->Play With->DVD Player every singular time if I wanted to select a new channel, if the Warapper in the Apps menu was set to Himedia Player. And also one wouldn't need allways to quit KODI to change back the Wrapper if he want's to get back to play some videos with the Himedia Player, and so on (the possible relevant occurrent cases are infinite). Also would be practical in the case of frequently changing the Player for the playback, when testing Videos, DVD's PQ, compatibility or searching for possible bugs amongst the two players. And also in the case of music file listening/testing.

Thank you! :)
