Internet content and Youtube is 2 channel stereo max. This is a limitation of Android apps or the Kodi plugins.

For local storage (USB/HDD/LAN), in Kodi you can play files using the Kodi player (DVDplayer) which is 5.1 channels max or the HiMedia wrapper which gives full 7.1 channel.

To set Kodi with internal player to max 5.1 output in Kodi settings go SYSTEM - Settings - System and change settings level (bottom left) to Advanced or Expert. The go SYSTEM - Settings - System - Audio Output and set:

Number of channels: 5.1
Enable passthrough
Dolby digital capable receiver
DTS capable receiver

Settings for wrapper in Kodi are the same as main box settings, so from home screen go Settings - Playback and set:

HDMI Output: RAW
HBR Output: RAW 7.1.

Thanks for getting back have being away. Have changed all the setting in Kodi  setting as stated ,all very easy
Number of channels: 5.1
Enable passthrough
Dolby digital capable receiver
DTS capable receiver
However all the movies come out aac  2 channel and have resourced the Movies with audio stating ac3 or dts  with no luck. If you can think of any other explanation would be greatly appreciated
I think its the brand new Denon AVR-2200w so I would be interested if anyone else is receiving these audio formats off kodi using a Denon AVR-2200w.
I have downloaded atmos UHD movies from my PC to the internal HD using the usb 3 cable ( mega Fast ) this is great :) plays every format 100%, but now when connected the Hi media the kodi media player only reads my computer HD not the internal HD on the Hi media player so have to disconnect the cable every time I transfer!!!!!!!!! using windows 10
Please is there a simple why round this.......HELP......
Cheers and  once again thanks for getting back

Can you clarify what files you are having trouble with the audio for? Is it 5.1 channel AAC or all 5.1 audio?

Do they play correctly when played with wrapper?

For the HDD problem can you post a photo of the VIDEOS - Files screen? Internal HDD should be listed here as sda1. Is it?

Hi,

take a look on my post " Problems q10pro Denon AVR-X6200"
Had nearly the same Problems like you.

Try going on like this:

- Switch off Denon
- Switch on Himedia
- Start Movie from Himedia & Select Audio Track i.e DTS HD MA or Dlby True HD
- Then switch on Denon while Movie is running.

Unfortunately threre is no other way from my side to start running with correct audio track

When streaming all  files come out 2 channels despite what  format is presented. On Denon AVR-2200w,Would be very interested if some one has the same Amp but receiving all formats while streaming.
When downloading movies to internal HD,  all files play correctly including atmos,
This is a screen shot of my TV when USB 3 is connected to Hi Media Player to PC its in file manager which is the same  shot in VIDEOS As you can see, it is reading the PC not the internal HHD. When I disconnect the USB3 cable it displays  internal HHD correctly.
Would love to fix this one......

The photo is what should be displayed when you go into Q5/Q10 pro file manager app and select internal flash (presented as 'C').

To see either Q10 Pro internal HDD or any attached USB storage go into file manager app and select D, E, F etc under 'SATA' or 'USB' headings.

For the 2 channel audio, what do you mean by 'streaming'? Do you mean from LAN or from internet streaming services? Playback from LAN should be exactly the same as from attached storage but playback from internet streaming services (Netflix etc) will depend on the app with most offering stereo only for their Android apps.

Will try to explain better about HHD and thanks for your help
Have installed a used  HDD  and formatted  it, with no problems. I have transferred files well over 100 Mbps, very Happy :) using the usb3 cable. The  5m , USB 3 cable connected to the PC can go through the wall reaching the Hi Media connected to the  TV and would love to keep this great speed transfer , but once the USB 3 cable is connected to the  Media Player, I can no longer read the internal HHD through the media centre.
when cable is disconnected , Kodi Media Centre plays and reads everything works perfectly.
Am I doing something wrong or is that how it works.
Regarding the 2 Channels its everything using kodi, my add- on is **,   Am not worried about this, I just switch the Denon amp to multi channel and it sounds good anyway. If there is a add on  more suited let me know
Just received a Lindy CEC less adapter WOW does that take a lot of frustration out of the equation...
I don't want to become a pest and I am more than impressed with is machine , I only have one hurdle to go through and I will be 100% satisfied .Am using Windows 10 and The PC is connected to fixed LAN line to Media Player. Have tried LAN connections , NFS will No Luck, keep getting New Server Error probably entering all the wrong THINGS no doubt. Is there any  editorials or video's that can help through this

Can you post a photo of what the media player shows (Himediaplayer app or kodi?)

Streaming add-ons will be 2 channel. That's normal.

What exactly are you trying to do? Are you storing media on the Q10 for playback on the PC or on the PC for playback on the Q10?

To share media stored on Q10 all you need to do is enable Samba in Q10 settings. Settings - More - Samba - turn on Samba service. The Q10 filesystem will then appear on the network as a normal Samba (Windows) share.

Sharing from a Windows 10 PC to the Q10 is harder, because Windows doesn't make setting this up easy. I don't use Windows, but there is some info here if you click expand under the Windows 10 heading: http://kodi.wiki/view/SMB/Windows#Windows_10

Am try to transfer files  on the PC for playback on the Q10
When USB 3 cable is connected to the  back ofQ10  player, Q10 and Kodi  do not recognise the internal HHD.
When disconnected as per photos all is recognised, which means I cant have the PC connected to q10 while viewing anything on Q10 HHD, so I am always manually disconnecting cable once I transfer files from PC. Was hoping for a better option.
I had  NFS on my DVICO Media player  using Tivix netshare  and had no problems. Q10 does pick it up but are unable to connect. Thanks for the help with Samba with try even though I think this might be to difficult for me.
