the other.....
« on: June 02, 2016, 07:32:41 AM »
i got used to switching between SDR and HDR10  and doing the same thing with the deep colors options (either in the video output options or the advanced ones) , but i never tried the so-called OTHER in the tv output options with the advanced settings.... but when i tried it out and to my surprise, i received a message for the first time that says something like (make sure you're hdmi 2.0 cable is connected) and since i'm using the mentioned , i pressed ok. such thing resulted in greying out the android tv  deep colors settings  (rgb, YCbCr...etc) but resulted in an truly amazing UI display and video playback quality ... super crisp and super vivid.... maybe someone can explain the reasons behind such an increase in video and display quality when using OTHER instead of SDR and HDR10.... thanks

This is an interesting find.  I will test this when I get home from office tonight.
Think this goes to show that...HAVING A MANUAL helps :)

Thanks I am going to try this as well.

Yes for these complex settings a good manual is essential even for advanced users.

Can confirm that...THE OTHER:

Just made the Sony 4K Camp demo video fill with lively colors...more fluid...

Same also with other 4K demo slighly more realistic colors but more fluid motion...

What display are you using and is it registering HDR?

A Dell P2415Q. Not an expert, but I know what I see.   On settings I configured Video and Advanced options to: HDR10.  The demo (Sony 4K UHD Camp) in question was pale in color. Thought it was so for effects. But when I changed both settings to: OTHER. Video now played in more saturated / realistic  colors.

Personally I think other detects the TV and sets mode on that.  When I select other my q10 feeds 10bit hdr to my tv
