IPTV kodi
« on: March 12, 2015, 11:16:01 PM »
Hello,
I just bought a Q5 and I am very happy.
I have installed  Kodi 14 and works perfect except for the IPTV.  When I try to run any channel I received the message "error on Himediawrapper app".
Do you know Why?

Some add-ons don't like the himediawrapper (for 7.1 audio and 3d), they need the Kodi internal player. The way around this is to install another instance of Kodi without the himediawrapper.

Kodi from the Kodi website and SPMC from the SPMC website will exist happily together on the Q5 or Q10, so I recommend installing both and leaving one without the himedia wrapper for use with apps that require the Kodi internal player.

Thanks for the quick answer.
Let me better understand: himediawrapper is used only for 7.1 audio and 3d? If I don't need these features this means that I can remove the himediawrapper app and work with only one Kodi installation?
If I remove this app when I run Kodi and I want to see a movie saved on my NAS which player will be used? Kodi internal player or Himedia player?

Himediawrapper causes Kodi to use the himedia video playback app for video playback. The Kodi internal player does not support 7.1 audio or 3D, so installing himediwrapper makes these features available from within Kodi.

If you don't need 7.1 audio or 3D then there is not much advantage to using himediawrapper. The internal Kodi player uses hardware acceleration and works very well for the vast majority of files.

Without himediawrapper installed Kodi will use it's internal player.

Thanks for the explanation.
So let's say that I want to try to install an other instance of Kodi on my Q5, how I can do it?
If I install again Kodi the system will find that is already installed, how I can create an other instance? Do I need to install SPMC instead of Kodi app?
And how can I leave the new instance without the himedia wrapper if the himedia wrapper is already installed on my Q5?
Sorry for the many questions but I would like to better understand how this himedia wrapper works on my Q5
Thanks

You would have to install Kodi and SPMC. So two instances that way. You can't install two or more Kodi or SPMC.

If you install Kodi > himediawrapper > SPMC then Kodi will have the himedia player and SPMC will not. You need to run the himediawrapper app after installation of Kodi/SPMC to implement it on the installation.
