I keep experiencing crashes with Kodi using the latest custom firmware. It happened in Kodi 18.3, and After I updated to 18.4 - it keeps happening the same.
I watch something (an episode, or a movie), then I come out and navigate somewhere else, and Kodi crashes to the home screen.
Does anyone experience it? Is there a solution?
Thanks.

Yes, I do have the same problem with various apps and Kodi 18.4. It's very annoying. Also there was a time that I could scroll with the HiMedia Q10 Pro remote upwards or downwards in an app, and that suddenly doesn't work anymore too. However the HiMedia Q10 Pro becomes sluggish or slow with 2 GB Ram. It's already a model from 3.5 years nowadays. I try to find something else with a newer CPU/GPU and 4 - 8 GB Ram.

Hi,
Yes, it's a veteran model already, but I don't think the issues are because of its age. It's because of less compatibility with Android 7 which causes instability. If you revert back to Android 5.1 you will definitely have more stability, at the price of using an older Kodi version which does not support all add-ons.

Hi,

I have 2.1.4 official installed and wanted to try this one and it is not recognized by the unit. renamed properly to update.zip and not starting properly by paperclip method nor recognized via old way - through the system, error saying no package on usb drive... what can be wrong? USB is recognized properly...

The same is happening when I am trying to downgrade using custom FW 2.1.2 - put clip in, start the unit, see the logo, release the pin, and only himedia logo is loaded, looks like update.zip is not found.

Be aware that windows by default hides known (popular) extensions of the files.

This is still a crap!

I was able to dwongrade from official 2.1.4 to 2.0.3 and 2.0.4 and still either I change the name to update.zip or not, it is still not recognized as an upgrade and does not start!

Is there any blocker in official firmware that I am not aware of that is not allowing to use custom one? I have now 2.0.4 and not able to upgrade to 2.1.4 custom...

There's no blocking. Try to upgrade to 2.1.4 official and then try the custom.

Yes. I have tried all of that. I have got now 2.1.1 official and fresh format fat32 usb with custom 2.1.4 copied and only renamed to update.zip file on clean usb - still not recognized neither via paperclip method nor via settings menu...

Thank you for checking and spending time to help me...

Are you really sure that the name is not update.zip.zip?
Last .zip can be hidden by Windows!

I did exactly the same some time ago renaming the update file update.zip and it didn't install, then I just named the file "update" ( note without the "  ") as in my Windows 10 setup zip is a hidden extension ie not showing but there, so as previously recommended just name the file "update" ( do not include the " ") and try again make sure it is in the root of the usb stick you are using not in a folder or similar, its also worth trying another usb stick as I found one that didn't appear to work. Not sure if the stick should be less than 8gb or similar.

I think "Ellah" is probably going to explode from my reply, that's what I did when I got through the frustrated whole update situation. "Manley" is right and I did the same, copying the file from my PC to the (FAT 32) USB stick, and renamed it with just the word "update"! The last 4 updates I did it that way and it works. Please let us know If you have some success with this method, because I have seen more members who have had some problems in the past with updating..........
