Q5/Q10 Pro Custom Firmware

This is just a For Your Information update. I tested my Q5 Pro and Q10 Pro with the stock firmware 2.0.9 and found that the audio passthru worked on both and volume on control also worked. Kodi 18 nightly 09-18-18 beta 3 ran fine. I only use Kodi for my local owned tv shows and movies, streaming, music video, music and pictures. When is used custom firmware 2.0.9 I found that passthru causes problems in Kodi 18 and the volume on the control no longer worked.

You could have get much better quality playback for any of these videos with the stock HiMedia Player using the Wrapper (only except the online streams). Just FYI. But it's up to you.

I can't agree with the "much better quality playback" statement. With my TV (only 1080p no hdr) I don't see any difference between himedia player and kodi internal player with the second one being much superior with subtitles handling.

SD and HD (like from DVD or TV source) deinterlacing is absolutely broken in KODI on HiMedia. HiPlayer still does a quite acceptable job regarding.
Guess You must be using the KODI freque patch for all of this. Well, based on my previous experiences with it, i would say rather.... good luck with that.

What are the differences between the custom firmware (2.0.9 for this instance purpose), and the official one?
I am asking also because I found bugs and issues within the official 2.0.9 firmware (such as occasional crashes of the launcher, video pauses, and bluetooth speaker not receiving audio after being paired) and would like to know if switching to the custom firmware (or downgrading to Android 5.1.1) will help resolve those.

The differences are the ones stated in the changelog on the first page and other cosmetic ones. You can also uninstall some apps with custom firmware.

+1 please. I tried the new official version. Kodi is stuttering (4k HDR). In 2.09 (custom) all was good. Some audio settings are gone. I don't know. E.g. DTS setting is missing under passtrought.
With archos player all is good exept subtitels. This is the reason i'm forced to use Kodi

Ok not everything is 100% good. E.g
 Crash after closing Kodi. Last week Kodi crashed. All settings was gone.
So i tried the new fw ;-) i never thought that things become worse than before

I would really appreciate it if someone could test a 3rd party launcher like Nova,  Apex  etc.  Then try adding a widget to the home screen, When I did it with Factory 2.1.0 system.apk just crashes

Just tried with apex launcher pro and dragging a widget causes systems app to shut down
