Thanks for your expert feedback. I look forward to more.

Some of the issues you raise are known already, and we'll feed back the rest to HiMedia.

You said you deployed a Fantec 4-port Bay HDD Docking Station with success and all drives were detected by and working well with the Q10 Pro.

I want to connect a Fantec USB 3.0 4-port Bay eSATA HDD Docking Station to my Q5 Pro and I presume that my Q5 Pro can also detect the drives in the Fantec HDD Docking Station.  Am I right?

The reason why I ask you to confirm this is because :-

1. I've searched many on-line shops and  I can only find a Fantec 2-port Bay HDD Docking Station available for sale in ebay.com and its specifications state
that the Operation Systems supported by it are MS Windows 2000/XP/VISTA/7, Mac OS ab 10.3 and Linux and does not state that its Operation System
     supports Android; and

2. I've searched many on-line shops and the specifications of all the USB 3.0 eSATA HDD Docking Stations sell by these on-line shops do not state that the
Docking Stations' Operation Systems support Android.

Please advise where I can buy your Fantec 4-port Bay HDD Docking Station.  Does the HDD Docking Station has a USB 3.0 port?

As most of the on-line shops do not sell Fantec HDD Docking Station, can you suggest any other  manufacturers' USB 3.0 eSATA HDD Docking Station which are compatible with Q5 Pro?

Please let me know what kind of eSATA drives did you use for testing (e.g. Western Digital, Seagate and Toshiba) because I want to ensure that I shall buy eSATA hard drives which are compatible  with the USB 3.0 eSATA HDD Docking Station to be bought by me and my Q5 Pro.

Many Tnanks.

It is probably very safe to assume support via USB is identical for Q10 and Q5.
For specs just do a search for "FANTEC_QB35US36G".  In the US it is sold as Mediasonic. It has both ESATA and USB-3 connectors. Did not try ESATA myself (specifically requires a motherboard with multi-drive and Plug&Play ESATA ports).

I tried my full suite of HDD with it in random mixes. These are WD Green and Seagate Desktop/Archive HDD in size varying from 2TB to 8TB.
Replaced the factory mounted fan with a Noise Blocker version. It is very silent but runs also on lower speed. In practice cooling remains adequate even at the lowest setting (or Auto).

You could use a different brand but be very sure it supports GPT (supporting > 2TB drives), only (some) recent product will do this. Fantec says 6 TB max. but 8 TB works also.
Android is never mentioned as an OS being supported as the Media Player market is ignored thus far totally (Android =Smart Phone/Tablet).

Updated status after intensive use in practice, lessons learned on the forum and upgrade to FW 1.06 software.

Added observations related to: Quality PSU impact, safe-eject and the file-browser. Also installed a number of APP's from the Play Store and added the experience doing so. The problem related to not always detecting devices on the USB3 port specifically was removed as I can't reproduce it anymore. It was never mentioned as being fixed though in the FW update lists?

Excellent detailed feedback.

The yellow / red feedback has been reported to HiMedia as bug reports / feature requests.

I have installed 12V 5A PSU with earthing. Hope this will be ok?

I am unable to disable Imprex 2.0. It says "Is not operational, because current HDR mode is not SDR"
I am playing BD Folder 1080@60Hz

I have already upgraded to FW 1.06

With Kodi I am unable to play through NFS (haneWIN) server installed on my Windows PC.
It shows all  the movies content and even downloaded the database for movies.
But when I click OK it says "working" and hangs up.  It simply doesn't play!

But through Media Center, NFS as above, works just fine. No problems!

Wonder why this happens?
I don't mind using Media Center (miss the movie database here) but does it limit any features of Q10 pro?
As wrapper is supposed to enhance its features?

I think Imprex is not available for HDR yet. So it is disabled with your setting implicitly.

Not using NFS myself. Neither use KODI. Did you install the NFS patch mentioned to be needed?

Wrapper is used only in combination with KODI.

Nice feedback.

Quote
I would like to be able to map the numerical keys on the supplied remote to player functions to make more efficient use of it.

That's exactly  what i did with KODI and the Keymap editor program addon.

To answer some PM queries... Here are the pictures of the PSU that I have used.
Actually this is an old adapter from previous media player (NMT) Elektron

Made several updates and merged the "Imprex 2.0" evaluation. It is probably good reading material for newbies as it starts to look as a manual for many aspects.
See lots of questions raised which answers can be read here easily.

If people would like to revise or add topics (to make it more of a manual) feel free to do so.
We will need to split it up then as I reached the maximum message size being 20.000 characters.

Added a link to the Egreat Forum for a similar report for the new Egreat A10 based on the same realtek chipset/SOC.

Switched over myself to that platform so this report won't get any updates anymore as I don't own an Q10 Pro player anymore.
I feel a bit sorrow for this as I really like the box, but FW developments are not on par.

Subtitle Time adjustment is buggy.
When you use it movie stutters like hell.
At least in practical experience with  fw 2.0.1-FUTEKO. HMD-2.0.1 2017-01-10.164949
and  fw 2.0.0-FUTEKO. HMD-2.0.0 2016-11-17.181855.
