The fact that Futeko doesn’t even sell their products anymore is very telling in my books. Oh well the Q5 that I have still works so I’ll just keep beating it like a rented mule! 😃

On what website, can you link it? If you mean their Chinese website than that's pretty sure it's for the Chinese variant of the Box and it's not compatible with the international versions.

Is there anyone who dares to install that Chinese version or will it brick the Q10 Pro? If not, I would like to give it a try............. It might be the last update!
It is time for me to purchase a mediaplayer anyway with more updated specifications like 4GB Ram DDR4, Android 9, and a better CPU (S922X-H).

Installing the Chinese firmware on a European/International Q5/Q10 Pro will brick it. Guaranteed.

You'll find that S922 boxes offer inferior PQ and format support vs Q10 Pro. The advantage they have is an apparently stable third party install of OpenELEC. It's third party software with no guarantee of ongoing support.

I have deleted a couple of off-topic posts about S922 based boxes.

Right now I would recommend Zidoo as a replacement for HiMedia. It has excellent software for video library and playback + better PQ than you'll get from anything other than HiSilicon.

First I want to make a statement that I like this player. Using cfw it plays every movie I have and those  made with my camera (4k 30fps).
I asked himedia support if this update will become available for the European models. They answered verry quick, one day later. This is the answer I got:
We won't have plan to release new firmware for overseas models, as local model which has 2.1.5 firmware we only have some changelog on local functions, it's not related with overseas market.

Thank you very much Futeko and other forum members for your response and suggestions. I certainly will consider Zidoo as a possibility, but I also have my eye on the new (model November 2019) Nvidia Shield Pro, which is hard to get in Thailand at the moment. Anyway, I have liked the HiMedia Q10 Pro for over 3 years now and I can still use it for watching movies, concerts, and my 1080p, 4k 30/60 fps videos from my camera.

It's disappointing that firmware improvements have ceased, and that there remain some annoyances unresolved, such as subtitles defaulting to ON every time a file is played, and not being able to play back TrueHD audio.

However, it's still a good box and able to play back the majority of content thrown at it, so it will be under my television for a good while yet.  Backups of physical media are getting a lot less important these days, as the streaming services offer more and more hours of new content to soak up the time.

I assume you have the Q5 Pro or Q10 Pro? My Q5 Pro plays back TrueHD (and Atmos) without issue. It's always worked. Subtitles defaulting to on was annoying, but it's possible to turn them off. Thankfully! You'll have to dig around the forum here as I can't remember how to do it anymore, I did it once then haven't had to think about it since. I'm not sure what your issue with TrueHD is but at least for the subtitles, that can be fixed easily - just not obviously! :)

I just tested the new MK3D suppport, but it only gave me a 2D signal (the movie plays in 2D), while the ISO played the movie perfectly in 3D mode.

Can anyone confirm this? Thanks

ps. The same MK3D file plays perfectly 3D on my PC.

same here on cfw 2.14, kodi 18.5 (kodi-20200201-226985d0-fritschfiretv-armeabi-v7a) and media player.

The statement that S922 (or any newer Amlogic that has CE support) has inferior playback format capabilities compared to HiMedia is only true when stuck on the stock Androids only on those Boxes and a whole new level is opening when using the mentioned CoreElec solution (cause that's what it is made and good for, and that's what makes those Boxes and the Amlogic so popular and appreciated in the  first place). And even much better in so much many ways: proper freque switching also for interlaced videos, auto resolution switching for any resolution video, no messing around with colorspace and bitdepth options on 4K resolution, no problems with SD video aspect ratios, ability to convert any audio formats to DD 5.1 (for better compatibility), audio timing adjustment and DRC options, better and much versatile subtitle format support and font customization options, problem free automatic OTA updates, upcoming HDR10+ and many, many more. Was that enough example? So many these things that HiMedia still fails and lacks after years of FW development (?or whatever it was?) and bunch of updates. Spoken I was and spoken the truth...

I did my update to 7.0 last night on my Himedia Q10 Pro and to say the least I am not happy at all, great now there is Netflix available but now my Q10 Pro hangs and is very slow, and now worse off after boot within 2 minutes it hangs and locks up, sorry not happy at all with this update.  It is definately V7.0 as I have checked.

I was looking so forward to this update due to the Netflix integration but nope, its slow, locks up. Also when I loaded Netflix it asked me there was an upgrade, I choose no, than just hangs there and totally locks up.

Help please.
