Himedia Q5 4k3d quad stuck on Himedia boot screen
« on: March 03, 2016, 01:51:09 PM »
After a 1-2 months normal work, the player stuck on Himedia boot screen when I switch it on.
Sometimes it is happen after a messages for "googleplay services, shutdown menu doesn't work, launcher doesn't work", etc. crashes, sometimes just after a new start.
The only way to solve it, is to make hard reset or to reinstall the firmware.
I face this problem with every version of the firmware since 1.05, even now with 3.03.
I've installed only 2-3 additional apps, like BSPlayer, Flood.
It is the same with WiFi and LAN connection.
What could be the reason?
Another issue, the player is too hot. I know that is developed to be hot, but it seems too much when I download 3-4 torrent files and play 1080p mkv movie.
Once the screen stuck during a movie playback.
Is there any possibility for overheating? Any protection in the CPU?

It sounds like the problems might be overheating related.

What conditions are you operating the player in? What temperature?

You should make sure that there is airspace around it, particularly underneath where the vents are.

A couple of simple things you could do to see they help are to raise the Q5 to improve airflow to the base or even to use the Q5 upside down so vents are on top.

Normal room conditions.
Enough space around it.
Temp aprx. 24-25C.
I will try to enlarge the space to the base or even to turn it down.
But why it stuck on the Himedia logo after a cold start?

You should have no problems in those temperatures.

When did you buy the Q5? The very early Q5s (end 2014) had a problem when they would sometimes stick on boot screen. This was fixed by a software patch. It would be worth a try. When the Q5 4K3D sticks on boot:

NOTE THAT THIS IS ONLY FOR Q5 4K3D SOLD IN LATE 2014
. It won't harm later production models, but it's unnecessary.

Step 1:Press the reset button. Then power off and power on again the Q5. It should can go to main menu now.
Step 2:After that, install the Q5.APK
Step 3: Upgrade the firmware by Recovery Mode.

Patch 'Q5.apk' file here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/6xnl6c1w82hbz3q/Q5.apk

Thank you!
I've installed q5.apk, but without Step 3, because it is still started and working OK (although still too hot) and I'm on the latest firmware v. 3.03.
I've bought it (not from you) in March 2015, so it is very likely to be from the late 2014 batch.
Let's see ...

Unfortunately the box hangs on Himedia logo again.
I can't start the restore procedure even with pushing restore button and put in power cable.
It can't load a new software from USB pen too.
Is there any restore procedure like Q10 pro http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1622.msg14469#msg14469
