HD Audio 5.1/7.1 bitstream bug.
« on: February 27, 2016, 02:28:59 PM »
Hello.
Just got my new awesome Q5 4k3d.

Love it..

I found a bug that I hope can be fixed.

I have several files in dts hd MA and true hd.
Some are 5.1 and some 7.1.

Here is bug I found.

When hdmi out is set to auto or raw,  in q5 settings,  and HBR Output is set to auto,  the following happens.

5.1 HD audio will output as 7.1..
I have confirmed with info and media info that file is indeed 5.1 and not 7.1.
Himedia info states 5.1, but is bitstream 7.1.
The back channels are therefore silent.
Not good of you want to use pliix to make 5.1 to 7.1.

If I play atmos,  or a real 7.1 HD audio track,  all is good.
LPCM 5.1 is played correct as 5.1.

Now...

If I change HBR Output to raw 5.1, the following happens.

5.1 HD audio tracks now play correct as 5.1

7.1 HD audio tracks now play as 6.1 ES

5.1 LPCM plays as 2 channel PCM.

So,  to play 5.1 files,  I have to select 5.1 raw for HBR Output.

And for 7.1, I can use AUTO.

this is very annoying to manually switch for different channel output files..

Hope this can be fixed.. As player is fantastic.. ??
