A10 remote control

Hi

I have a fairly early A10 , and never really used it because of the remote.
Unlike most remote controls it is missing the :
PLAY
STOP
PAUSE etc etc buttons

The later remote seems to have these buttons

Can a later remote be used , or is there an alternative please ?
