Z9x & no zoom feature in aspect ratio tab ?

I have both a 

Z-9X  (v6.4.42) 

and a 

Z-9S  (v2.3.35)

 

The Z9s  has a zoom selection with two more extended window selections for 2.35.1.

 

Why is this removed in the Z9X ?   
in favor of (DAR)  which I don’t even know
What that means or does?

Nothing changes when selected over the FIT or FULL option in Aspect Ratio anyway that I see on any movie 2.35 or 1.85 so what is DAR for & what does it do ?

 
With the zoom feature it made it easy to watch Non Anamorphic made movies on wide screen tv’s in which I own over 1700 movies like that.

any ideas or just trash or sell the Z9x & use the better Z9S ?

On Z9X there are settings for 2.35:1, 21:9 and 1.85:1 displays at Settings - Display settings - Screen ratio.

Full expands vertically (if it can) to fill the frame height.

Fit expands horizontally if not already

Fit (DAR) expands horizontally if needed and honours DAR (Display Aspect Ratio) for example for anamorphic encodes - DVDs mainly. Not really needed these days.

Original displays as per the file aspect ratio (and resolution and resolution settings!)

16:9 and 4:3 do exactly what they say.

thx for the replies, still no change.  tried a few setting changes that one of you mentioned & no change on the vertical stretching.

what would be nice if there was a another software player with vertical & horizontal scaling or stretching instead of using the internal media player ?

like I tried using VLC but it keeps crashing & closing within secs of opening. 
also tried Media Player Classic app that works but there's constant jitter & split sec freezing.

thats the latest luck so far.
